In fairness to 57, I think both parties have been ran by these people for a while, without the voters actually supporting it. The difference today is that one party is being taken over by an ideology that explicitly opposes it, while the other is being taken over by those who want to give it censorship rights.
First, I think the covid isolation camp idea is pretty backwards. I don't see any real benefit as the same could largely be accomplished by home quarantine if sick or exposed. Delta has made it even more useless as it's impossible to stay ahead of the spread when it's spreading as fast and as easy as Delta. And the numbers are showing more and mores that Australia's approach is largely ineffective. They don't seem to have a big advantage on other developed countries with similar population densities who haven't gone with the quarantine camp idea.
Second, Australia, like everywhere else, is still relying largely on at home quarantine. There are simply too many cases to put everyone testing positive or exposed into camps.
Third, there's very little context in that video as it's just a brief clip.
Fourth, use of army resources is not surprising. Military resources are frequently an option to support local governments in a variety of situations. Here we mainly use the National Guard but that's still using the military.
So ultimately I think the implications being made are misleading. I don't think Australia is handling this correctly at all. Lockdowns really don't seem to be terribly effective except in the cases of easily isolated vulnerable populations (i.e. nursing homes). But I think the boogie man people are trying to say is there is going a bit far.
