I’m going to *gulp* disagree with this, despite agreeing with it wholeheartedly emotionally. I think charging the parents with manslaughter is a bit excessive despite finding them morally guilty, as it’s judging the crime by the consequence rather than the act itself. If they had left the gun out and the kid never did it, would we charge them equally because he could have committed an atrocity? I’d be happy with charging them with some sort of negligence, but manslaughter feels a lot like the issue Striker brought up in the Arbery case with the guy who didn’t shoot Arbery getting charged with murder.
I’m very open to changing my mind if there are any relevant reasons to do so, because **** these people.
