I was in this Kroger 1 day before, pretty surreal. Stopped there leaving memphis for the miss state football game

If anything these parents got off light. The prosecutor said that a teacher saw him writing disturbing things with images of shooting people that morning. The parents were called in to take him to see someone and refused. Later that day he committed the shooting with the gun that they had just bought him (straw purchase) for his birthday.

I think parents need to be charged more often in these school shootings when the kid brings in a gun that wasn't secured. Maybe that will convince more of them to take notice of their kids troubles and lock the guns up to be on the safe side.

Not only school shootings but all shootings in general when a gun isn’t secured
 
It's like they couldn't imagine that there would eventually be very unpleasant consequences to how they were raising their son. Their lives are now ruined, even if they have no compassion for the other students and families and their losses.

It's just such an ignorant and destructive way to live.

I actually kinda feel bad for the kid. He wasn’t raised by the best people

I’m going to *gulp* disagree with this, despite agreeing with it wholeheartedly emotionally. I think charging the parents with manslaughter is a bit excessive despite finding them morally guilty, as it’s judging the crime by the consequence rather than the act itself. If they had left the gun out and the kid never did it, would we charge them equally because he could have committed an atrocity? I’d be happy with charging them with some sort of negligence, but manslaughter feels a lot like the issue Striker brought up in the Arbery case with the guy who didn’t shoot Arbery getting charged with murder.

I’m very open to changing my mind if there are any relevant reasons to do so, because **** these people.

How's bouts we make even a little difficult to obtain these weapons.
People will aways get and forever been stupid.

Let's quit giving them the means to act out their cruelty and stupidity
 
Lot of ****ty parenting is the main problem in most cases

That’s just getting worse not well adjusted individuals

I'm with you if the gun is stolen but feel like parents have to share consequences of their kids actions when they put their kid in a position to screw up. On the other hand, we would never charge the parents if they bought the kid a car and cell phone and the kid killed someone while using both. I don't know, it's a complicated problem. I guess not taking the kid home when they were called in that morning is what triggered these charges.
