College Football Thread

Something seems to have happened either during or after the UK game. Florida players didn't play with nearly the same fight they did when they played Bama and TN and it progressively got worse.

Mullen is a good coach, but things definitely got to a point where he couldn't turn it around and they had to move on. However, UF is insane if they think it's gonna be easy to find a better coach. You'd be hard pressed to find 15 better coaches in the nation over the last 10 years. It would be funny to see them end up having to take a shot on a coach like Todd Monken or Dave Clawson.

They've now hired Louisiana Lafayette coach Billy Napier. Little bit of a risk here. He was a hot name in coaching searches but it's not exactly a coup. He has 4 years of experience in a third tier conference and a grand total of 3 years of experience as a coordinator for major programs. He's done well with the Ragin Cajuns but it's a big jump for him to head coach of a program looking to win a national title quickly.

Napier can win. He's a solid coach. A little surprised he didn't land in Baton Rouge.

Surprised Riley went west. Honestly, It isn't much of an upgrade. A lot of rumblings the SEC trash compactor scared him off.

I hope Bennett can keep this up, because it would look awful if JT's on the sidelines and he blows it.

I really wonder if Bennett can beat Alabama. The defense needs to smother Alabama's offense because I don't see Bennett winning a shootout.

Hard to have much respect for a coach who announces he's leaving one big name school for another one with a bowl game still left to be played. These bowl games, even minor ones, are a big deal for fans. If I were an OU fan I'd be super pissed.

Hell ND still has an outside chance to make the playoffs and thier coach bolted to LSU. Imagine if ND gets lucky and wins it all with an interim coach.

it’s done like that now because of recruiting. Some coaches want to get a head start on it before signing day.

some coaches if I remember correctly but few have finished the bowl game.

stoops is gonna interim at OK. I wonder if he just comes back full time since he basically retired so Riley wouldn’t leave.

I cant blame either Riley or Kelly. The deals those two got are crazy.

I can, if they did it for the money. They were already making millions and were going to continue making millions. What kind of leaders can they be if they value insane money over loyalty? College football is crazy.

Because their players are chasing $$$ too. They get it. They see guys getting into the NFL and making $$$ so they want to come play for them.

Pretty simple deal really

Also, why I hate Bama, watching UGA continually choke in big games is incredibly fun. Honestly, ND deserves to be in the CFP more than UGA. They've played a tougher schedule and their only loss was to the other CFP team in Cincinnati.

Georgia's defense collapsed but that collapse can be traced back to Smart. The teams that have done well against Young bring extra men to get pressure on him.

Kirby decided to go ultra conservative for some reason and rush 4 all night while playing zone. Young just sat there, way too comfortable, and picked the zone apart.

Did Kirby change? Nope. Kept the same ultra conservative defense.

Then playing Bennett is just baffling. Bennett is a game manager at best. He can hand off the ball and run play action. That's about it. Force him to make reads and throw the ball into tight windows and he folds.

If Bennett was the only QB that would be one thing but we have JT Daniels who has proven he can win. He's vastly better than Bennett but Kirby is absolutely blind to it.

Kirby is the best recruiter on the planet but man he's prone to making bonehead decisions.

Yes, "chasing money" is a very simple concept. A simple concept for simple minds.

There seems to be some smoke that Kirby is playing Stetson Bennett over JT Daniels because of some kind of conflict that occurred between Daniels and Kirby. It will be really disappointing if Smart is wasting the best Georgia team ever by playing a QB that just doesn't have the talent needed because he can't work out his differences with a kid.

I think Bennett has the teams backing, but it could be wrong.

Took JT a long time to come back from that muscle injury.
