The Coronavirus, not the beer

i want to say i have utmost respect for gato malo, berenson, cerno and ngo, and the people who turn to them for reliable independent information.

Nsacpsi, you haven't been the most accurate poster over the last few years. Have you tried any self-reflection and thought that perhaps your sources are kinda crappy?

Nyet.

Let me translate that for you comrade. You guys are the last to engage in a discussion on self-reflection and the need for accurate sources of information.

As an example I'll mention yesterday's discussion on inflation. Various assertions get made around here about who said what when. I'm happy to respond to an actual reply to something I said. For example on February 4 2021 I linked an op-ed piece written by Larry Summers (yes I know it was in that dubious publication the Washington Post) with the comment it contained some food for thought. There were some good points in that piece by Summers including a warning about inflation. I won't take credit for Summers' prescience. But I'm happy to take credit for sharing what I thought was a well-written and insightful op-ed piece.

By all means carry on with the self-reflection advice.

Let's do some self-reflection on who on February 4 2021 approvingly cited a piece that included a warning about unprecedented peacetime fiscal stimulus and its inflationary consequences.

You believed Russian collusion which ended up being HRC/Obama/DNC/FBI/CIA colluding to overthrow a democratically elected president.

Glass houses....

Ah - We are back to "Putin Apologist"

Well done going back to your roots after I just abused you and your arguments as to why the EU/NATO are just as responsible as Putin for whats happening. They played a game with the Ukrainian peoples lives and now they are the ones that are suffering.

But well done on Russian collusion. You were right over the target on that one.

Hows that Wisconsin election report looking to you?

Lol. Are you going with the "Putin Lover" angle with me now? I think with all of the time you've spent brown-nosing Enscheff you're beginning to get overcome by the fumes. The posters here have gotten the best of you day after day. Perhaps a little self-reflection is in order.

I’m surprised he actually came back and posted in this thread

"natural immunity crock"

"Masks are a great tool"

"Kids should be thrown the kitchen sink"

These are just a subset of the buffoons greatest hits. There is a reason he hid from this thread for months

i added a bit to my post

but no i can distinguish between various posters around here...you're not all equally crazy about all matters...i actually enjoy a good discussion...and i don't mind the smack...something about kitchen and heat and all that jazz

dude this is an example...none of those things come even remotely close to things i've actually said

in contrast to things you've said which i've quoted very precisely and accurately

such as:

"the vaccines are nothing more than a tool for oppression"

"the vaccines are very likely the cause for the new variants"

"i find putin to be completely rational"

thank you for the opportunity to point out the contrast

always a pleasure to have good faith discussion

Lol where do you think the terms natural immunity crock and kitchen sinks originated on this board? If I cared enough to dig them up I would, but you probably scrubbed them like you did with your German nonsense

You were outwardly calling for healthy teenagers to be masked.outdoors, and not allowed to socialize, while getting vaxxed and taking frequent tests.

A complete sociopath but also a hilariously wrong one

So a few quick notes. As I enjoy your takes 90% of the time striker.

First masks themselves have varying degrees of efficacy, and that also lies in the issue. If you wear an N95 properly, odds of catchign covid are essentially 0. The chances of you transmitting it are essentially 0. The issue is that wearing it properly is kind of hard. Especially in an indoor setting. As it takes a bit to drink/eat etc. Surgical masks are more effective than the average cloth mask, but the issue with cloth masks is lack of standard. A cloth mask could range from multiple layers of material with a filter to thin material that provided nothing. All of them have issues. People I know who have worn masks properly the whole pandemic who've gotten it have gotten it from significant others or hanging out maskless in bars/restaurants. There is some value to that as so many people I know work closely with others.

Also maybe it's the nice person inside of me but generally I assume people wearing masks in cars are doing it because they forgot to take it off or they're travelling place to place and don't feel like putting it on again or it's an N95 and kind of a pain to put on.

To that middle paragraph, it’s why mask mandates are essentially theater. Did we expect children to properly wear masks for hours on end in school? Did we expect people would choose top of the line masks when that wasn’t the communication from the government from the get go? Did we expect transmission would go down when we told people they only had to wear the mask until the bread and drinks got to the table?

Some people have trouble moving from the theoretical to the practical.

i didn't say i didn't introduce kitchen sink into this discussion

i certainly didn't say throw the kitchen sink at school children

that would be a good example of the bad faith posting you engage in constantly

what i said was that no single tool appears to be a magic bullet to stop covid...several have some efficacy...so a kitchen sink approach makes sense...it strikes me as more than a little amazing that saying something like that is viewed as some sort of catastrophic blunder on my part to be triumphantly trumpeted as another example of nsacpi's folly

carry on

the level of entertainment and amusement i get out of the posts around here has never been higher

You do realize that virtually all public health and safety measures are observed imperfectly. Love seeing the perfect being used as a weapon against the good. As I recall you only want mandates for measures that are 100% effective. So at least you are being consistent.

A weapon against “the good?” Where’s this good?

If you think the costs of a mask mandate were worth whatever decrease in spread we gained on that walk from the front door of the restaurant to the table, then I disagree with your cost benefit analysis.

this is the sturg post par excellence

the type specimen that illustrates what you are about

so yeah...i appreciate y'all being so much in favor of self-reflection

Do you still favor 18 year old kids being double vexed, forced to mask (outdoors too!), not allowed to eat lunch or socialize together, and frequently tested?

Because you did a few months ago. The old kitchen sink approach. Laughably stupid. probably the dumbest of all of your hilariously awful takes
