Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

From whom are you guys hearing we are out of money?

Do you have links, or is this the same rumor being shared around among a couple of people using each other as a source?

No idea.

DOB said someone told him we had 15 million left to spend post Olson extension.

After the recent signings we're a little under that 15 million mark and haven't made any moves since then.

Pretty big news from Jim Bowden:

Alex Anthopoulus #Braves GM told us the tentative plan is for Ronald Acuna to DH in a regular season game around April 21st and then playing in the OF by May 21st…of course this is just a light frame work but allows us an idea on what the plan is right now.

One of our writers said the other day we have 15 million left to spend. Since then, we signed McHugh and Rosario for around that amount. Also, AA said he wanted to have our roster complete prior to the first spring training game. All signs point to us being done.

With opening day on April 7, that means we won’t see Acuña for the first two weeks of the season. Not awful, but not ideal.

Also think AA is gonna see the next two weeks what the younger guys do and see how the market shapes for a starter.

The problem with this season for the young guys is they don’t have much time to prove themselves. We have to get our main guys up to speed

I still think we may sign a starter like a Cueto, Pineda, etc.

That puts the payroll at less than $160M (I have it at $155M-$160M right now), which is a little disappointing considering they were somehow able to afford Freeman ($27M) plus Verlander ($20M+) plus a LFer ($5M?) and instead pivoted to Olson ($15M), McHugh ($4M) and Rosario ($9M).

That $50M+ turned into $28M...so where'd the other $23M+ go?

Did the Braves unload prospects for Olson so they could afford Eddie Fricking Rosario? My god I hope that wasn't the case.

DOB says Braves and Padres talking to Soler. I just can’t quite figure out how we make that work. Doubt we have rosario $9 million to be a bench bat.

If we this tight on money, what was the Correa offer? I think we got more than most here think

It was likely a short term high AAV similar to what AA offered Machado and Harper a few years ago.

Correa wanted a 1 year deal. Probably would have had to top Scherzer's 43.5 1 year.

We could always let Duval go somewhere else. We can trade for him at the deadline.

You have to wonder if Ozuna will be traded. His contract would be attractive in this market without the domestic violence thing over his head
