Seriously, **** off Freddie. Not coming back to Atlanta is on you. He took less money to go to LA.
 
I have no problem if Freeman chose to leave for greener pastures. It's business. But trying to play it off like the Braves spurned him is just bogus. I think Freeman and his agent thought Freddie was more irreplaceable than he actually was.
 
Freeman thought he was more irreplaceable and Alex pivoted to Olson. I dont blame AA one bit. Braves made him as good of an offer as you could want.

I can't fault Freeman for trying to maximize his earnings. He's certainly earned it, probably more so than any other current Brave. Being a Brave simply wasn't as important as squeezing that last $20M out of someone (far less after taxes), and it's perfectly acceptable to push for it. I have no problem with any player looking out for themselves in a business where their employers certainly aren't.

What I do have a problem with is this act about always wanting to be a Brave. His actions (and contract) speak much more loudly than anything he says in an interview. He is a Dodger because he wanted to be super rich rather than being...super rich. So own it, and stop playing the "I'm sad" card.

Chipper's take on agents will show you why. Chipper said he tells players to remember that agents work for them. BB Abbott repped Chipper and made sure Chipper got exactly what Chipper wanted. Did the same for Olson here. Could those two guys have made more money going with an agent that would have pressured them into free agency? Sure. But there are more important things than money. If my boss offered me double my pay to go work out west, I'd tell him no.

Chipper has a lot of "strong" opinions to put it nicely but I'll believe him on almost anything baseball related.

Yep, and add in the difference in state tax and it makes the deal look much worse financially than the deal ATL offered. It’s still generational wealth, but he left chips on the table.

I thought they would of really outbid us but it was so close that he looks like an idiot. And you can tell he’s salty.
