REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Think we over paid on all three frankly.

We get experienced 3-4 guys right away though. I like Bartu as the drop end also... Probably a much better cover guy and reaction guy than Kroy.

Bartu could be a drop end, I saw him as a situation rover. Like he plays for Biermann passing downs and spells Spoon and Worrilow.

I'm not thrilled with any of the signings considering the amound of money the Falcons have and spent so little keeping their guys. Hopefully they still add an OL or 2 via FA as well. Honestly, I would love Clabo back. Especially since it seems like now we're basically set on getting Mack that we won't take Robinson or Matthews.

Would also love a guard or center as well.

Please do....I'd bet the percentage is less than 5%.

Richard Dent went in 8th round Deacon Jones went in the equivalent of the end of the 6th round, Bart Starr went at the equivalent of the 6th (more rounds less players) Shannon Sharp went round 7, Cortland FInnegan went in the 7th, Jamal Anderson was a 7th round pick, Harold Carmichael went int he equivalent of the 6th round, Bo Jackson went in the 7th, Seth Joyner went in the8th Marques Colston went in the7th, Stevie Johnson went in the 7th, Richard Dent in the equivalent of the 6th, Ken Houston equivalent of 7th, Chris Hanburgh I believe the equivalent of undrafted maybe end of 7th, same with Raymond Berry and John Madden.

And ignoring the more studly players with reps, Al Morris, Byron Maxwell, Jason Kelce, Greg Hardy, Antonio Brown, and Kyle Williams all went in recent 6th round.

Sure there's a good chance the guy you take that late amounts to nothing, but there is the potential to do some damage with those picks.

How about we try to stay somewhat current considering the scouting is so much better. The percentage chance of a late sixth and lower to even be a rotational player is probably way less than 5%. Its a non issue to trade sixth round picks especially for a QB that was previously a first rounder 3 years ago.

Thanks for the memories, DeMarcus. Great player and a class act. Good luck to wherever you are next season. Too bad Jerruh didn't surround you with better talent.

Yeah, I mean Gabbert is better than Kaepernick tho

How did the Saints sign Byrd? How the hell do they have the cap space? Is there any chance they keep Graham now?

I have no idea on the bottom, has to be backloaded.

I know Loomis is a good GM and all but can only have so many high priced players.

He's visiting with Denver tommorow, not sure if his play is health related or age, maybe both.

We really bitching over a 6th round pick here for a talented OL like Martin?

Signed for 2 more years.

Would like the Falcons to take him on essentially a 1 year deal to rotate in with Mack. Mack won't be fit enough to play all downs as a rookie.

The Niners could have signed someone and not given up a pick. Maybe Gabbert needs a coach and great OL and weapons and will turn it around, but he held the ball too long, thne threw off his back foot, terrible combination. Gabbert since entering the NFL has been hands down the worst QB in the NFL. Being a high pick doesn't matter, see Leaf, Ryan.

They just keep restructuring those high priced players and turning base salaries to bonuses to spread the cap hit out. They could get around 30 million in cap space by restructuring everyine that is eligible. They could realistically do this for 2 more years. After 2015 they would have to gut the team marlins style but by that time drew will be close to retirement anyways. Might as well go for broke now.

I wouldn't be surprised if graham is traded and Byrd is taking the money that they would have used for graham.

Talib signs with Denver. Something like 56 million over 6 years.

Same AAV as Davis/Shields but still a little worrisome given his past.

Ward deal a bargain, market value/slight overpay for Talib.

Sounded like DRC had a similar offer from Elway, never took it, Talib got it.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 1h

Wondered how #Saints could fit Jairus Byrd into their cap. With an $11M signing bonus over 5 years, cap hit should be around $4M in year 1.

Bucs get a steal in Verner.

SF trades a pick for Jonathan Martin. Gabbert, Martin and Bethea the same

money as Whitner....not Balkes best day.

Yeah its stupid TN let Verner go for that little. We have depth at CB, but the only reason we weren't bring him back is b/c he was wanting more than 8 mil per. Good sign for TB. Even if Verner never repeats last season he should still be good value at that price.

It pays out more often than you think, and not having a pick gives you ZERO chance of that player turning into a good player. Even if the odds are 5% as you say, 5 % is still way better odds than 0%.

Actually it's about the Gabbert being traded for a 6th. You can sign almost any QB in the league and they will give you Gabbert production.
