I think the two are niche figures on the lunatic fringe of today's conservative ideal-base and should be considered thusly.

lolz, I just don't see how anyone could look at Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, or Rick Santorum and say, "That is modern conservatism." And then expect to have any sort of meaningful debate. Long hanging fruits are the easiest to pick, but the liberals on this board need to up the ante.
I don't think they represent the entirety of the modern conservative but they certainly represent various points of the fringe. They certainly represent the Fox News conservative as well. Personally I think the better representative of the modern conservative is somewhere between Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul. Pick and choose attributes from the 2 and you can find yourself.
To me, Huckabee and Ron Paul are fringy too. I see the people's brand of active conservatism championed by guys like Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Chris Christie, Scott Walker, Jeb Bush.
have to laugh because pols are Libertarians / Conservative until - well--- they just aren't anymore. Appears political expediency trumps core conservative values when it gets down to electoral politics. /Which is where the rubber will always meet the road.

No Bedell this doesn't mean she was right!
I see where Obama went on Between Two Ferns to try and get young people to sign up. He must be pretty desperate.
Oh, joy, I found another one!
seems like your comment is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" moment
if i was to say so
In what political realm is Ted Cruz in the same boat as Christie and Jeb Bush??
Jeb Bush openly said we need immigration reform.
Man you have a lot of faith in the clowns you typed up.
Lol, Keith, just because I defend conservatives doesn't mean that I am one -- or necessarily support any of those candidates.
Partisanship is so 2008. It's almost as dated as liberals who still ignorantly defend Obama.
That being said, politics evolve. Lots of studies out recently indicate that young Republicans support abortion, immigration reform, etc. Democrats don't 'own' these positions.
Show the policies sponsored by these Young Republicans that support your claim
How young is young?
Don't thinkt here are enough young republicans right now to nominate their candidate. The middle aged whites and seniors are still the big GOP voting block.
I think Obama has managed to disenchant a large portion of his 'young' (let's say millenials, 18 to ~33) base with the healthcare snafu and continued job stagnation. It doesn't look like the Republicans are going to have to work very hard to poach swing voters in that demographic.
