"Well regulated" doesn't mean what you think it does.

One of the biggest challenges in interpreting a centuries-old document is that the meanings
of words change or diverge.
"Well-regulated in the 18th century tended to be something like well-organized, well-armed,
well-disciplined," says Rakove. "It didn't mean 'regulation' in the sense that we use it now, in
that it's not about the regulatory state. There's been nuance there. It means the militia was
in an effective shape to fight."
In other words, it didn't mean the state was controlling the militia in a certain way, but rather
that the militia was prepared to do its duty

There is one thing that gives me a wee bit of hope for the South. Which is seeing Orlando, Nashville, Charlotte and Atlanta turning out to be bona fide soccer towns. Embracing the world's sport. What's up with that? Pretty soon y'all be eatin' quiche and sippin' lattes.

I lived in N Florida for over 40 years and loved every minute.
We had Governors like Rueben Askew, Bob Graham and Lawton Childs.
9 wonderful months of weather, 2 national champions in football, baseball year round and no income tax.
But, the only resource was the sun.
People came to spend money in the sun during the winter months.

Disney is, was and will always b we the draw.
Desantis picking a public spat is, well, not very presidential, to put it kindly

Walt Disney was a Nazi sympathizer. Maybe people will remember that and give DeSantis some street cred for being anti-Nazi.

Disney was not in the same class as Henry Ford, but still...

People literally flock to Florida for the world class golf weather fishing and beaches.

Saying otherwise is absolutely insane

The sun and an entire peninsula of beaches. Ports. Military bases. Agricultural industry. Universal and everything else around Orlando. Massive retirement industry. Multiple international airports. Great roads. Florida is too hot for me, but it's got a lot going for it.

i won't comment on the golf, weather and fishing

but beaches no

Florida's beaches are distinctly mediocre

sorry to be a beach snob but i know whereof i speak

I'm surprised to see a Florida beach in the top 100. But at least it ain't in the top 50.

I know a real beach. I've lived in both Florida and the Seychelles (which has 2 in the top 5 and honestly could easily have 5 or 6 in any top 100). This list has it about right.

Generally American beaches suck. Hawaii being an exception.

Generally about 99% of Americans can't afford to ever consider loading up the family to go to Seychelles for a vacation. A lot of them can get to a Florida beach in their car. I always see plates from Ohio, Montana, the Dakotas, Maine, etc, and that's in the SW corner of the peninsula.

I had the good fortune to be born there. It is where my mother's family is from. So I wax jingoistic about Seychellois beaches.

But I stand by my comment about American beaches. The Jersey shore in particular is an abomination. Except for the bottom tip around Cape May. That's where I proposed to my wife. Time and place are important for such occasions.

There is generally a FL beach on every best beaches list .

People flock to them.

They are very much a selling point. Even in the summer

Please tell me more about how Disney isn’t in Texas and somehow you don’t have state taxes

****ing moron lol

So do you support Disney having special exemption status from the government or not?

It's really not a hard question. And you brought the subject to the board

We used to have friends that when you visited there was a Chihuhua that yapped and made a pain in the ass the whole time we were there.
Always wondered what he/she was saying.
Now I know, " it's really not a hard question"

Like I said, used to have friends.

Chill little bro
