GDT: Card @ Braves Return of Are See Ya

This game should put Fried at the top of the fWAR list in the NL again. Alcantara, Fried, and Rodon keep leapfrogging each other.

Alcantara is probably the favorite, he's been absolutely insane this year.

Fried came up a tad short. 3.3 fWAR to Alcantara's 3.4

Alcantara has two clear advantages right now over Fried for any Cy consideration. IP pitches. Dude has been a machine. And ERA due to a super low BABIP. Hopefully, that reverses course and his ERA starts to rise. Fried has a decent shot at the Cy Young.

Just don't want that ERA to rise while playing the Mets. lol

That's the Mets' opposition Sunday and Monday

I mean, Mikolas isn't wrong on the general point -- there are rules on the books basically preventing hitters from stepping out of the box and stalling for time, and you could probably make at least a small dent in pace of play problems by enforcing those rules as written. And I appreciate that Mikolas is a work fast kind of guy.

On the specific point, though, Mikolas knows those rules are never enforced, he knows hitters are going to step out of the box in a way they technically aren't allowed to and so bringing it up in the context of a given game is pretty whiny.

Game time was 2:32. It's not like the braves were trying to be the Yankees or Red Sox. Miles just needs to change his tampon

Mikolas knows exactly what the rules are and he knows exactly how often this particular rule is enforced, never. If the umpire wasn't granting Cardinals hitters time there would be a complaint. But umpires never enforce this rule and Mikolas knows it.

Reminds me of when Trevor Bauer on the Indians at the time complained that the Braves rose his pitch count up by taking too many and then fouling too many pitches off.

I only remember the one incidence last night with Travis hitting.

Ozuna with an 867 OPS since June 13th. And it still seems like he's been unlucky as he has a 231 BABIP in that span. But dude has been hitting the **** out of the baseball.
