GDT 8/14/22: Braves @ Fish - Faith in Grissom

I know the players love snit. People management is the hard part. Can they not get a coach on staff to tell him what do do tactically?

Believe it or not, that’s why Weiss was brought in. Apparently guiding the Rockies to several losing seasons made him a tactical whiz who could help snit in that department.

All snit needs is an app that gives him run expectancy values for every potential move at any given point in the game. Then snit can see which couple moves make the most sense, as well as which moves might still need to be made later in the game, and pick accordingly.

With 46 games left, going 30-16 the rest of the way gets the Braves to 100 wins. Do y’all think they can do it?

Why not?

Braves have played great baseball for 2 1/2 month except for one week. I think to get to that mark and take the division we need to take 3/4 from the Mets though.

I have no idea how they’re 70-46 with this moronic coaching staff. We’d be much better off with Chopcountry’s all-stars who have all the insight of who’s dealing with what and how a guy’s feeling leading the way.

14 against the Mets and Phillies
6 against the Astros and Mariners
3 against the Cardinals

Let’s say 13-10 in those games, keeping in mind they currently have a losing record against teams with winning records.

The other 23 are against losing teams. We’ll say 15-8. That’s 28-18, which puts us at 98-64. So it’s doable.

Given that the starting pitching is suspect past Fried and Wright, Acuna is not 100%, and Albies missed half the year, 93 wins is nothing to be ashamed of. I grew up and took my Braves colored glasses off years ago.

At the start of the year that's not a bad prediction. But with 46 games they would have to only go .500 to reach that mark. Braves will end the year with high 90's wins. They are that good this season.

Braves rotation is 6th in MLB fWAR. Morton (3.44 ERA since June 1st) and Strider are both good pitchers. The bullpen is arguably the best in baseball.

It’s just a really weird take to think this is a .500 team the rest of the season, especially when September comes and half the teams in baseball throw in the towel.

So you honestly think this team only goes 23-23 the rest of the year? When you took off those Braves colored glasses you should have replaced them with some proper prescription ones.

I think 98 wins is right on the money of where they’ll land this year.

Harris had a 126 WRC+ and a 351 babip coming into today. Nothing outlandish but should expect the babip to drop some. But fast lefties usually have an inflated babip. His defense is legit though. He's going to be good I think

Way to early to tell with Grissom. But that 9th inning walk was impressive. He has an idea at the plate.
Harris is doing better than I thought. Obp still lower but improving.

Grissom looks hitterish

On the division, I think they have to get 3/4 or better or it’s over.

At some point Braves may pull the plug on the division and look to set themselves up for the playoffs.

If we can get 3 vs the Mets then there is hope.
