GDT 9/2/22: Braves vs Fish - A Start for Ozuna

My guess (I have the game on but not really listening to the announcing) is people are used to it being “Al-con-terruh” maybe they’re enunciating by rolling the R.

Yeah. She might be saying it right. I just can’t quite hear what she is saying.

I don’t like these guys because there seems to be no flow to their announcing. Just seem to ramble about random things.

how is it overpronunciation?

I remember when Jon Miller got criticized for pronouncing Betemit’s name
properly. Everyone else was saying “Beh-tuh-mitt”. And he personally asked Wilson and he was told it’s actually “Beh-tuh-mee (silent T)”. People thought Miller was botching Wilson’s name and he told Miller he never has heard it said correctly so he thanked him for it.

They probably did the same with Sandy.

Not to toot my own horn but here goes...I know what natural Spanish speakers sound like and I've been told by numerous native speakers that I have no trace of a "gringo" accent. Believe me when I tell you they're overdoing it.

Not good optics in plunking a guy who took you deep earlier especially when you're a pitcher of Alcantara's caliber. That said, I do think the pitch was unintentional.
