Legalization thread

Credit to Biden. This has been low hanging fruit for decades.

Biden is to be commended for living up to this campaign promise. Every governor in this country should do the same.

I'd be interested in knowing how many people that support legalization have actually smoked habitually in their life.

I don't think people truly understand how strong marijuana can be.

Ban alcohol

Ban Nyquil

Ban sugar

Ban energy drinks

You're assuming bad for you is the same as bad to someone else.

I do agree that we should ban alcohol.

Never put it past a Libertarian to understand the real world though...

I don’t drink alcohol. I occasionally take edibles. I’m happy that I’m no longer considered a criminal in the eyes of the federal government. In Texas, I am a danger to society unfortunately.

I'm sure you were looking over your shoulder ever minute for the po po to get you!

The idea that its 'just possession' completely ignores the fact of how much weight you have to carry to be charged and potentially be put in jail.

Here is a hint - Its not for personal use.

People are better off going to a dispensary than buying something off a friend of a friend.

You think legalization has taken out the black market?

You think making marijuana even more accessible is a good thing for the developing brain?

Why do you think legalization wouldn’t hurt the black market?

The second question is a personal Liberty concern. Drugs are bad. Prison is worse.

Don't carry an ounce of weed on you and you won't go to jail. Piece of cake. Do you think people are going to jail because they bought a 1/8th (which for even a heavy smoker is weed for almost a week)?

Legalization is only emboldening the black market as there have been more and more busts for illegal grow operations. Its basically doing the exact opposite of what we were told it would do.

Don’t you think a lot of that has to do with federal restrictions? There’s a very awkward set of constraints regarding the production and sale of marijuana in states where it’s been legalized due to the way we treat the drug at a national level.

Its still a cash business which makes areas around dispensaries super dangerous.

But ultimately there are more illegal grow operations and all growers are still selling a portion of their grow (marking it down as failed growths) to black markets. There is more weed on the street than ever right now.
