Official official offseason thread

We really screwed up not grabbing Drury at the deadline or the off-season . I think a few of us were calling for that one both times

Curious to see what his market will be this off-season. My guess is he's going to want a situation where he's going to be a starter or at least someone who is going to get 400 ABs. I don't know if Atlanta is that place, but he'd be a perfect addition.

I will be very surprised if Duvall isn't back.

Rangers hired Bruce Bochy as manager, great hire for them.

Walt Weiss declined an interview request from the Marlins for their open manager position.

Weiss knows he might have a chance when Snit steps down. I hope not because of how anti analytics he is.

The Marlins is a perpetual losing year.

white Sox interviewed basically everyone from yesteryear.

I thought Bochy retired? Lol

Braves are hiring! It isn't a shock to see some of these positions come open\created when our in game management could use a kick in the pants IMO. Showing the best data on gameday needs to be priority number one.

That one position thats part time seems ripe for the employee to be taken advantage of lol...

lol if it was remote I'd apply to that 100%. Wouldn't mind making it my 3rd job.

I asked a recruiter to look into these jobs, and they are extremely underpaid. Teams are able to use the coolness factor of working in pro sports to hire very smart kids for a fraction of what they can earn in other industries.

For example, when I interview a kid for an entry level software engineering role, the compensation will be in the $70k-$80k range fresh out of school. They will step right into a 40 workweek with all weekends and holidays and vacation time professionals expect to get.

These jobs with baseball teams are either unpaid internships, pay peanuts and/or require 365 day availability.

Then imagine pouring your soul into the work only to watch some bumbling grandpa allow Rosario to bat vs a LHP while Grossman sits on the bench. I can’t even imagine how disgusted I would be on a professional level.

Maybe if I were 23 with no real financial footing in the world. But not at 43 when I’m accustomed to a certain level of compensation.

Randy Miller:“Free agency starts five days after the World Series and the Yankees figure to have stiff competition. The [SF] Giants are planning to outbid the Yankees and everyone else, whatever the cost, to bring Judge home to the Bay Area, NJ Advance Media has learned.”

If it gets to a crazy amount, like 8/380, 9/400, 10-420, i think the Yankees gotta walk away. But im curious what their Plan B is if Judge does leave.

Interested to know what SF Giant ties NJ Advance Media has that they can do confidently proclaim the Giants (who are lead by one of the smartest guys in baseball) are determined to outspend everyone.

I’ll take a side of a salt with this one, waiter.

Yankees top prospects are shortstops. They're actually in a tough spot with Judge, the top free agents are shortstops, their top prospects are shortstops and they still have Gleyber. Only other top outfielder is Nimmo. Yankees pitching is mostly fine, the offense is a serious issue though.

Lot of people have said the Giants are gonna spend big this winter, but yeah, i'm not sure how anyone would know if the Giants would have the top offer for Judge. Wouldnt be a surprise given they have alot of money off the books but even still. Farhan is like AA and runs a tight ship.
