Official official offseason thread

Soler gets 15M from the Marlins this year after playing only 72 games and has a 9m option after next season.

Is there any way we could attach Rosario or Ozuna and a prospect to send their way....

Time to trade Ozuna. I believe Rosario need one more opportunity.

Because Rosario only has next year remaining on his contract I don’t believe he is traded unless another team agrees to take him as part of a package in a trade. I expect he will be with the Braves next season. Ozuna will be gone before spring training, will be shocked if that doesn’t happen

Mitch Haniger is a great choice to platoon with Rosario. Plus he play right field just in case Acuña need a break.

There's some interesting outfield options if we could dump Ozuna and/or Rosario out there. Brantley, Haniger, Profar, Joc, Pham, Conforto to name a few. None come with a QO.

Martino said the Braves and Rangers are the biggest threats to lure away DeGrom, and the Mets wont go 4 years if someone did. Cant say i think AA would go to that length to get him. If DeGrom signed, it would have to be slightly below market value (waits for Scheff to lols). I think if anyone gave him a crazy offer, it's the Rangers.

DOB predicted we'd sign Bogaerts. Not sure what people on here think of him but he's a MUCH better hitter than Dansby, albeit a much worse defender. From the Athletic.

- The Braves will sign shortstop Xander Bogaerts after he opts out with Boston and becomes a free agent. The Braves will have to pay him a higher AAV than they would’ve to re-sign Dansby Swanson, but not too much more. Bogaerts, who’s 16 months older, has a .373 OBP, .880 OPS and 133 OPS+ over the past five seasons, compared to Swanson’s .321 OBP, .755 OPS and 100 OPS+ in that period. Each had 5.7 bWAR in 2022, but Bogaerts’ 23.3 bWAR over the past five seasons is nearly double Swanson’s 12.0. Bogaerts, from Aruba, will join Curaçao native Ozzie Albies to give the Braves a double-play combo from the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao). -David O’Brien

I don't know what we do with Bogaerts if, as expected, he needs to move off shortstop in a couple years. Riley is signed through the heat death of the universe, as is Olson, so you can't shuffle Bogaerts to third and Riley across the diamond. Left field, maybe? I feel like that would get ugly.

I've wondered about Bogaerts and the only way I would consider signing him would be for a 3-year max with a higher AAV. 3/$30 MM AAV? It's important to remember that the DH is now universal and Bogaerts or Riley could slide into that role if they went more years on Bogaerts.

One problem with Bogaerts is that while his surface stats look good, his EV and other deeper indicators show him in decline. May not be the reddest of red flags, but something to consider.

Give me Correa/Turner or give me a spare parts like Iglesias or Andrus. I want no part of Bogaerts or Bae at the prices being discussed.

I still say Amed Rosario is the best option.

Can’t disagree with any of this. Correa, Turner, Swanson, and Bogaerts that would be the order I’d put them in. Correa will age better than any of them with the bat imo. Swanson and Turner have so much of their value built into speed that once that declines so will their defense and base running.

Bogey and Dansby depends on the years. Would love Xander if you could get him for like 4 with a higher AAV. Dansby i'm not sure the years he'll get, i think AAV wise he'll be around 25-28. Turner/Correa i agree are the best options, just unsure if AA will be in the ballpark to give them the money they want.

I think if AA sees them as a clear upgrade for the longer term he will pay up.

Rumblings about Trea Turner and Philly. Would hate to see him go there, but would be a perfect fit, and they shedded the salaries of Eflin and Segura, Stott probably moves to 2B.

But Hoskins and Nola are free agents after one more season. Not sure how they can afford Turner plus keep them and also fill the rest of their holes.
