Watching The Braves This Coming Season

Found out that DIRECTV Stream is raising its prices. I switched to them from YouTube TV so I could watch the Braves. But with my package going up to $100 a month, I’m considering options. Unfortunately, YouTube, Hulu, and Sling not carrying Bally and doesn’t seem like they will anytime soon, the options are limited. I may wind up listening to the majority of the games on SiriusXM. And of course, I’m in Braves territory, which means blackout.

Bally Sports may be in trouble in any case, but it’s getting harder it seems to watch my team play

You can listen to all games on At Bat. I buy this $20 package every year.

There's always www.sportsurge.net . I had to switch to directv a couple years ago when dish dropped regionals. Sucks I pay more for directv for one reason only - the braves

St this point

You could most likely go to your cable provider and see if they bundle basic cable into your internet and it be cheaper than the numbers you are throwing out there

This is why people pirate streams. It's just too frustrating dealing with these companies.

I'm with goldy, with the prices things are going up to, you're probably better off just getting cable.

Could just do MLBTV. Think its like less than 100 or so for one team but havent looked. It was 129 for every team last year and 109 for one team package, not totally unreasonable.

Whatever ATT's streaming service is called now (Direct TV?) is probably your best best.

It has Bally. Not sure about blackouts.

It can be. Sadly I have a couple of streaming services due to convenience for the kids but I still sail the high seas for a lot of content. Once a pirate always a pirate.

I have a few services too. but getting my sea legs under me right now and finding a lot to like right now.

Do other teams have it this difficult or is it just the Braves?

And a follow up- why does MLB suck so bad at blacking out their own fans? Grow the game and all that ****.

MLB is the only of the 4 major sports who make it near impossible for the average fan to watch. NBA is on everynight and sometimes multiple channels.. NFL is super easy to watch.. NHL..lets face it.. no one watches that.. JK.. but MLB thinks that if they let fans watch who could go to the game then they would choose TV over live. Not one fan I know would give up tickets to watch on tv, nor are driven by the fact they can't watch on tv to go to the game. Mandick is killing the game and trying these gimic rule changes to save his ass.

It’s not just fans who might go to the game. I am in the market area for the Diamondback’s. I live 800 miles from there, but when the Braves play them it’s blacked out.

I might consider going to Arizona for a game, but since I am never allowed to watch them play, I will never become familiar enough with them to make the effort to go.

MLB has made sure that I will never become a fan of the team that they have assigned me to because I will never see them on TV.

Oh well. Guess I will remain a Braves fan forever;-)

The result of old men who don't understand what the modern consumer wants. Being out of touch is how companies die. MLB might not be in danger of dying but it has been losing market share to other sports for a while.

I'll just never understand a company that wants to make it difficult for you to buy and consume their product.

That's not really the truth. The reason for blackouts is to protect the ludicrous local TV contracts.

Cutting the cord is now more expensive than cable. I have cut them now too

Most of the streaming platforms now come free with other companies plans. Hulu comes free with select Verizon plans (not live streaming though), Netflix is free with T Mobile, Paramount comes with Walmart+, etc. Lots of ways to stream content for free.

Of course most of these aren't live TV. But honestly, we do Hulu live and I don't find myself watching much live TV anyways.

I can buy into that but what is Atlanta’s local tv contract. Bally. That you can’t get anywhere?? I hate that options to watch the Braves are 130 bucks a month. Or hide your location with VPN or pirate games. It should be easier and less expensive. I don’t watch enough TV to justify the cost. Plus you still have your other streaming services for on demand and originals.
