I mean your not wrong to have 0 faith in them. It's why I'm waiting a bit before dipping my toes into the newest WOW expansion. I'll probably get Diablo when it launches though.
Except the very rare game I don't get games at launch any more.
I had a whole ass millennial moment with a kid I work with, when I was explaining how dope preorders used to be. YOu used to get ****. And back in the day if you didn't preorder you would struggle to find the game in store for months unless you hung outside for midnight releases.
Now I can just buy it online and it shows up on my console in an hour or so. There's no scarcity and aside from probably playing a buggy game there's no real benefit to not waiting some time for the release. Like the games I've bought within say 2 months of launch in the last 5 years I can count on 1 hand.
Baldur's Gate 3 early access - I'll admit a massive gambit, but Larian is a beast of a studio.
Elden Ring - I have always like Soulsborne games, even though I'm the worst at them usually. Elden Ring managed to ratcheted down difficulty enough, that I could push through the game. I'm kind of dying to go back into the game and play it agian from low levels.
Metroid Dread - ONe of the games I looked forward to the most. Also Nintendo First party games are virtual slam dunks. Notice I said first party games, Pokemon doesn't count.
Mario Galaxy
Smash Ultimate
Basically FIrst party Nintendo games, and a few others here and there. I don't count Hades as that was out on PC for some time before I got it at launch on the switch.
