MAGA is confused with “republican”. There is a massive crossover to traditional blue dog democrats. That’s why the demographics are being radically changed from a voting preference perspective.
Desantis has white college educated people making over 50k. That’s not a recipe to win a general election despite what the establishment wants to shove it down your throat. Add in his desire to slash social security and Medicare and we sre being setup for an election wipe out.

It cuts in various ways. Turnout in deep red counties would fall if very poorly chosen one wasn't on the ticket. But there are also a sizeable number of anti-trump republicans. I don't think it's possible to say with certainty which effect would prevail. My impression is it's a close call.

i think you misunderestimate the legal jeopardy he's in
the smith and willis prosecutions are the more substantive ones...but the case Bragg is prosecuting could put him behind bars
