Official Around Baseball 2023 Thread

That's one heckuva big ballpark. I had to watch the video again to see if he was playing shallow CF like his dad, but he didn't seem to be in that close. Great catch.

That was my immediate take.. great catch, but man he ran a half mile and still wasn't even on the warning track.

Just reminds me how old I am now that I'm watching Andruw's kid make plays like that. Funny to think that at his age his dad was doing that in the majors while hitting homers in the WS.

I was wondering about this too- like I would go well out of my way to trade for him now before he becomes too impossible to get - ie multiple top line draft picks for Jones. But not sure that can truly be done- but man that’d be cool. Any chance at pulling that off evaporates with each at bat he takes …

Is it time to start having Grissom work on his LF defense instead of SS or am I jumping the gun too soon?

Brian Anderson is raking so far. Really head scratching why we didn't attempt to bring him in.

No, that time was months ago.
If a guy can’t play major league SS at 21 he won’t just learn to at 22 or 23.

Agree. Stop trying to make him something he isn’t. Let him play left for 5 or so games and then call him up. He can then play LF some. 2B some. SS occasionally or 2B while Ozzie covers short. Dump Ehire(I don’t think he has had one AB) Dump Ozuna when Harris is ready. Go from there.

I usually peruse some of the more interesting-looking box scores after I check the scoreboard every morning and I took a look at the Dodgers/D-backs from last night and saw that a "Miller" pitched an inning for the Dodgers. I thought it might be their #2 prospect Bobby Miller, but no, it was Shelby Miller. I didn't realize that he has made a few appearances in the bigs over the past few season. Funny that both Miller and Heyward, once traded for one another, are now on the same team.

Reinvented himself as a pretty good relief pitcher.

Good to see him back. Has battled through some pretty significant injuries. I always cheer for guys like that even if they aren't playing for the Braves.

Watched a couple of Heyward highlights and it looks like he's moved a little closer to the plate. I always thought one of his problems is that he was too far off it, which allowed the pitcher to work outer-half and with Heyward still trying to pull everything, it seemed to result in a lot of 4-3 ground outs.

LHP Danny Young called up - Shuster sent to AAA and Seth Elledge DFA'd

Young should relieve Elder in his next start.
