GDT 4/22/23: Braves vs Astros - Wrighting the ship

A lineup with white/Hilliard, ozuna/Rosario, and pillar with Grissom playing defense has very little room for error. As soon as Riley and Olson stopped being .900
Ops guys, we losing.

We have guys coming back who will make an offensive and defensive difference. There’s no reason to be concerned on April 22.

Remember at the beginning of the year when virtually everyone was ****ting on Arcia even when he was killing the ball and wanted Grissom at SS. Careful what you wish for.

Let’s go find quotes about how much better Grissom is than Arcia. Then I’ll go find quotes where I explained how his poor exit velocities showed he wasn’t.

I’m out of the country but I see Snit is back to his old tricks letting a tiring RHP pitcher face elite LHH a third time and losing a game because of it.

Good times dinosaur, good times.

I was surprised it even took the Astros this long to figure out that they can just sit offspeed, because Wright has no control of his fastball whatsoever.

But of course you can‘t take out a 21 game winner while he‘s „cruising“.

I just got tired this winter of both O'Brien and Bowman designating Washington as the "shortstop whisperer" and that would lead to the coronation of Grissom as an All-Star level shortstop. I'm a wait-and-see guy and I realize the sports media has to create a sunny narrative for the fan base, but the book on Grissom since he was drafted is that he was probably not going to stick at shortstop. I still think he has a reasonably high floor with the bat, but I'm curious as to where he'll end up on the defensive side of the equation.

Grissom has a .291 xwoba. If this doesn't improve, he's probably the worst starting SS in mlb considering his defense.

I'm sorta missing dansby

Wright's bb9 back to pre-2022 level - over 5. His fastball velocity down from 95.1 last year to 93.6, which is right where he was in 2021. Only 13.2 IP though, so is it too early to be worried?

When someone has shoulder problems you do have to worry. We'll have to wait and see.

I’m thinking our rotation by the end of the season is going to look like:

Fried
Strider
Soroka
Morton/whoever
Elder/whoever

Sounds fun. There should be quotes abound. Especially around the time Arcia won the SS job and got his contract extension.
