GDT 6-4: The Return of the THING CALLED SOROKA.

One thing I can say about AJ is that nobody will get a good look at the ball coming out of hands. He's hard to pick up.

Statcast data so far looks like the mediocre numbers from AAA were accurate. Tomorrow morning we will know how well those spin rates were turned into movement.

Not sure trotting him out for a third consecutive inning is prudent.

i’m not a stat cast expert but i’m seeing horizontal and vertical movement on stat cast. is that the movement you’re talking about?

i see a few fastballs where there is 96mph, 2144 spin, 12 down vertical, 4in right horizontal.

how does that grade out?

Meh, if he’s going to be here his role is to give 3-4 innings.

I’m glad we get to see ~50 pitches of data from him. It should give us a decent idea of what he can be.

I don’t know because those movement numbers are different than the ones from FG I compiled to come up with my grades. So I have to wait until FG converts the movement numbers to the scaling I used…mostly because I’m too lazy to do that work again for the baseball savant scaling.

that makes sense. excited to see what it looks like tomorrow. the numbers do look eerily similar to the AAA data but im hoping for the best.
