GDT 6/10/23: Nationals (Gore) @ Braves (Shuster) 4:10 PM EST

Crazy that Freeman is at 3.0 fwar and Swanson sits at 2.4 fwar, and yet the Braves haven't skipped a beat losing those two guys the past two offseasons.

Probably gonna let Fried walk once he's up, and fans will go ape**** about it.

Not that I was worried about losing with Minter in the game. But why doesn’t Twit ever let these guys go longer. JJ had been struggling and actually looked good today. Threw like 3 pitches in the 8th. Why not let him finish up the game and have all your guns well rested tomorrow. It like he has to manage 7/8/9 as a one guy for each instead of looking at situations.

I'm just happy he let Uncle Jesse pitch two. But yea, that might have been the move—two each from Chavez and Jimenez.

To be fair, the pitch that garret hit out was a 97 FA low and inside, out of the Strike Zone.
Hard to fault him much for that one.

The one that Acuña jumped for… maybe.

It was t a knock on Minter. Just don’t understand why he wouldn’t trust JJ to get 3 more outs against the Gnats. Maybe build some confidence back in him.

Jesse Chavez coming back to the Braves more than a decade after his brief, terrible, initial tenure with them, pitching well, leaving again, pitching badly with two other teams, coming back again, pitching well again, all as he approaches the age of 40, is such an utterly bizarre and borderline incomprehensible story.

Where does he rank in the pantheon of weird Brave fan favorites?

Sid Bream is first, Julio Franco is in the top 3…

Chavez is approaching that tier.

He’s this generation’s Julio Franco.
