2023 MLB Draft Thread

Hold up. What's this prospect promotion incentive pick for the Mariners at 29. Wtf is that.

A provision in the latest CBA designed to incentivize teams to start their hotshot prospects on the big league roster instead of suppressing their service times. If a highly regarded prospect spends a certain amount of time on the roster and wins Rookie of the Year (or finishes highly in MVP/Cy Young voting), the team gets a pick.

If you're wondering, we get nothing for Harris because he didn't spend enough time on our roster and wasn't featured on the prospect lists.

Drue Hackeberg.... I do not approve of that spelling of the name Druw. Cant find much on him. Supposedly sinker/slider guy. Has a bunch of brothers that have been drafted over various sports. Oldest brother was Christian Hackenberg of Penn State/Jets fame. So he atleast comes from an athletic family.
