Trump Indictment Watch

[tw]1687075454967324672[/tw]

The people that lied about Russiagate/Impeachment/COVID/etc... are definitely the people you should trust on the sanctity of the 2020 election.

I am simply floored the Democrats stepped into this trap.

They stepped onto a major rake with these indictments. The case is based on that Trump "KNOWINGLY" lied about the election to overthrow the government. Now the world would get to see just why so many of us KNOW the election was stolen.

They saw Trumps poll numbers. They saw the information coming out against the Bidens (which makes IMpeachment #1 look like a Democrat crime to hide the Biden crimes). They were desperate and called their hail mary to stop him. Going to be glorious when the world sees what actually happened in 2020.

I think the NY indictment and this recent indictment are trash.

I think he's gonna have a hard time with the documents indictment.

Note I am not rooting for this just looking at the situation in front of us

Gracia.

At least a solid.introspective, but still badly missing the mark.

The other part of the equation of the elites and professional class is how wrong they are all the time... and people are sick of being told they can't use their gas stove or buy a gas vehicle because some Harvard grad says that it hurs the weather

Anyhow... looking forward to reading the comments later... I'm sure this milquetoast article will get eviscerated by the virtuous NYT readers

Let the story unfold for a bit - Its always the same story arch.

Bragg showed poor judgment in bringing that case. He might win it but still poor prosecutorial judment. It is a reach in various ways.

I honestly don't care much about the documents case. It looks like a slam dunk to me but it doesn't get to anything important.

The attempt to overturn the election results, however, gets to things that are very important. It is the case that gets to the heart of what was wrong with very poorly chosen one. He had no concept of the distinction between his personal interest and the national interest. Pence is right in saying that he put himself above the constitution and is also right in saying that this is absolutely disqualifying.

We will have two forms of accountability in coming months. One in the court of law and one in the court of public opinion. I hope the verdict in the two dovetail with each other. But will settle for the right verdict in just one.

The documents would be hard too. Can't have obstruction without a crime and Trump had the legal right to those documents.

One problem very poorly chosen one and his defenders will have is that they elaborated a plan and discussed it publicly before the election to declare victory even if they lost. And they executed that plan on election night. From those humble beginnings grew the criminal conspiracy to overturn an election.

He KNEW before the election they were likely to lose. His pollster (who is very good) told him he had a 10% chance of winning. This prompted the development of the plan to declare victory on election night no matter what the outcome. I think this is what set in motion this entire chain of unfortunate and criminal acts for which he is likely to spend a long time behind bars.

There is an analogy that i think is relevant.

Suppose I want to shoot my neighbor. I shop around and ask 10 lawyers for their opinion. 9 tell me it would be illegal. But I find a 10th lawyer who is a crackpot and tells me some new interpretation of the law would allow me to get away with it.

That kind of defense (my lawyer said it was ok) aint gonna fly. For me or very poorly chosen one. He had some highly qualified people giving him very good information and advice. He listened to people who told him what he wanted to hear. Giuliani, Eastman, Powell, Pillow Guy. Too bad.

The fact that Trump over the last few years has repeatedly said the election was fraudulent and they will show the court the evidence to why they believe so. Yes, they were prepared because they believed fraud was going to happen with so many ballots out there. This case involves putting Trump in prison for wrongthink.

why ?
there is a reason people around the world read NY Times.
NYT is required (20 years ago at least) reading for West Point Cadets, to the point of one must
be able to speak intelligently on any subject brought up by either
senior officers or upper classmen(persons ? )

May be a trash organization but, still, the Times.
Newspaper of record

I do my best not to consume state propaganda... or else next I'd be claiming that covid came from a bat, masks stop the spread, the vaccine will keep me from getting it

9 out of 10 lawyers didn't believe it's illegal though and that's the problem. It has now been made illegal which tells you they thought it was possibly legal. Little known fact is many democrats were thinking about doing this after the 2016 election.

Just to reiterate what I 'm saying and why Pence is full of ****.

Your reading comprehension skills are no better than your writing. I said nothing about voting.

So I say I think Trump isn’t above the law and that I won’t vote for him, and your response is that I’m the reason the Republican Party can’t quit Trump?

Okay mr high and mighty reading comprehension boi

You cant be serious. I can only assume you havent actually read the indictment. Please do and get back to us if you stand by your statements. If trying to stay in power through illegal means isnt enough to prosecute a former President then what is? Can Biden go down to Maralago and shoot Trump in the head then we call investigations and prosecution of that political and a witch hunt? Do you understand what would have happened if he had succeeded? There would have been riots and protests unlike anything this country has ever seen before. And their plan was to brutally put it down using the military and insurrection act. It wouldnt be Trump is re-inaugurated and everyone just goes about their lives as normal. It would have set off a second civil war. Maybe not fought in the same was as the old civil war but it would be plenty bloody. The economy would tank. Our allies would not recognized Trump and how do you think he would have handled that? What Trump tried to do is why we have a second amendment. If it wouldnt apply to that scenario when would it ever apply? And do you think it would have ended with 1 stolen election and coup? They would have just dont it again in 2028 and 2032 and 2036. What would have stopped them?

Not going to read your word vomit because the first sentence clearly shows you didn’t read.

Trump. Should. Be. Held. Accountable. If. He. Broke. The. Law.

I will hold him accountable by not voting for him.

Seriously, y’all are crazy.

Very easily influenced are you?
You once said, " what propaganda"

Your reasons are not an excuse for not staying up to date with the most consumed current events source on the planet.

NYT also had WMD and invasion of Iraq wrong. I strongly disagrreed with their stance
Yet those days a huge majority of their reporting was spot on.

So we throw out the baby with the bath water?

As it should be. Why the **** should that guy have the power to confirm an election?

The VP never had this power. The statute on the electoral college is poorly written and the new law simply clears up potential confusion.

But this theory Eastman was promulgating had no chance even under the old statute. The whole thing has been aptly described as a crime in search of a legal theory. Eastman himself knew this and asked if he could be added to the list of people getting pardons.
