GDT #15, 4/17/'14: Braves (Wood) vs Philthies (Burnett); Gattis day off

Last night Fredi was praised for leaving Teheran in the ninth. Today he gets criticized for leaving Wood in. At least it looks like the two groups don't intersect. Or do they? Need a Venn diagram for this.

If we needed one run and had an opportunity to get it, he would have been criticized for leaving Teheran in

I don't really think one way or the other about Fredi, but putting the best lineup with all things considered on the field is important. Today he did not do that. Shouldn't be hard to understand, but one game you pick up now, is one game you don't in September. We could easily have one or two more wins (maybe, don't know the true owlcomes) but where Fredi could have improved our chances. That is really all you can ask, is put us in the best situation to win.

Last night the Braves had the lead, it wasn't 0-0. And also, a situation arised so it was logical to have him bunt.

This is the type of attitude from Fredi supporters

"We have a good record." Well, we could have a better one

"We won 2 of 3, why complain?" Because we could have 3 of 3.

Is that so hard to understand?

Yes, over the course of a 162-game season, you'll have games like this.

I never said it's ok to win just 2, but in a 3-game series on the road, usually 2/3 is fine, a sweep is gravy.

Situations were different.

I supported leaving Teheran in, but he had a lead and you cannot forget how that top half of the 8th played out. Those are key differences to consider.
