Dark Horse Steelers now up to 6-3

Probably the worst looking 6-3 team of all time but as I said. Dark horse.

Steelers are going nowhere with Pickett at QB. Josh Dobbs has 2 less total TDs in only 2 games with the Vikings (without Jetta no less) than Pickett has in 9 games this year.

The only good wins they have are vs the Ravens and Browns (playing a back-up QB). They got dominated by Houston for crying loud.

Broncos now at 4-5 having beat the Chiefs and Bills. I saw a lot of people throwing Sean Payton under the bus early in the year. Dudes a really good coach. He just makes some of the worst late game decisions you will ever see.

I didn't get the hate honestly. They weren't winning, but Wilson was playing significantly better at the start of this season than he was at any point a year ago. Their defense was just trash for the first 5 weeks.

Broncos are still a bad team.

Team DVOA still sitting at 27th just ahead of the Falcons. And the only reason they're ahead of the Falcons (and Bears) is special teams.

That being said, no one expected Payton to turn the team around and be a playoff team. If he did it would have been a miracle. Russ is a shell of his former self, they have ****ty players all around them and they lost way too much to get Russ (then subsequently Payton) to compete this year.

Now I think in a few years after the Broncos get some more talent and lose some deadweight (Russ) they'll turn things around. Payton is an awesome coach. But you can only polish a turd so much.

Wilson is playing worse than Richardson and Minshew.

LMAO, no he's not. Wilson is on pace for his best season in 3 years. 2nd in TDs, 4th in passer rating, 2nd in TD/Int ratio, 1st in TD%, 10th in completion %. And that is without factoring in his rushing stats, where he's added another 231 yards and 21 first downs.

Zito can’t understand that advanced rate stats are crushed because of his early poor play when team was a mess. Context matters and Wilson has always been a bitch to play against.

He's throwing stats are fine, but he's not playing well. What's his QBR? DVOA? DYAR? He has been making less mistakes good for him. And his best season since COVID season isn't an accomplishment. He was pretty mediocre in 2021.

I'm starting to wish the Falcons could somehow get Carson Beck... but Beck may be playing himself too high. He's gonna sneak into the top 2-3 QBs taken.

I really don't see Carson Beck going before round 3, and he certainly won't be a top 5 QB, much less top 3. I wouldn't be surprised if he returned to UGA since next year's QB class seems pretty weak.

I dont really know anything about advanced stats in football so I cant comment on that. And I dont watch the Broncos games so my knowledge of the team is limited, but from what I know they are supposed to have a really good defense. Payton is one of if not the best offensive mind in football and I think he could take even the least talented offense and make it around league average. If Payton has a top 10 defense he will get enough out of the offense to atleast contend for a playoff spot. Dudes never had a double digit loss season as a coach even when starting the year with Jameis as starting QB and having to go down to a 4th string QB. Payton is even 7-2 with Taysom Hill starting at QB and people here used to mock the idea of him playing QB.

He should go back for another year. If he keeps it at this level for a full year and hammers out a few things he could be a top 10 pick next year. He's got an NFL arm for sure and his processing has grown tremendously over the course of the year.

Can you imagine Carolina yeeting everything for Bryce, when instead they could have drafted say Jalen Carter, or an OT. And gotten Caleb Williams.

There's been a ton of chatter that he may have already moved up into the first round.

He's already being called a top 5 QB if he went in this year's draft by analysts out there:

I mean ESPN had him as QB5 for the 2024 draft before his Tennessee performance!

If the dude continues to ball out in the SECCG and the playoffs... he can easily be a top 3 QB taken. Still think he stays for one more year.

Williams and Maye are the clear top 2. That likely won't change. Penix and Daniels are right after them. Then you have McCarthy, Nix, and Sanders in the group behind them. I don't see Beck any better than any of those guys (well maybe Sanders, but Sanders is a better athlete and is more marketable). I have him in the same tier as Quinn Ewers (if he comes out) or Riley Leonard. Maybe if he dominates the SECCG and the playoffs he would move up to the top 5 range. But I don't see him unseating any of the top 4 regardless.

If Beck comes back, he'll be in the hunt for QB1 next year, presumably with Ewers and Allar. Maybe Klubnik if he has a big 2024.

Lol... he's certainly better than Sanders by a ton. He's also better than McCarthy and Nix... McCarthy is a game manager who doesn't ever play anyone and never shows up for the big game... Nix is a system QB who will be exposed in the NFL. Penix in many ways too. Beck is prototypical classic NFL QB with amazing pocket presence and underrated athletic ability. Ewers and Leonard? They are nowhere near his class.

Beck: 3,320 yards, 72.9%, 9.5 Avg, 21 TDs, 5 INTs - 3 rushing TDs 76.9 EPA
McCarthy: 2,335 yards, 73.8%, 9.9 Avg, 18 TDs, 4 INTs - 4 rushing TDs 57.4 EPA
Ewers: 2513 yards, 70.3%, 9.0 Avg, 16 TDs, 4 INTs - 5 rushing TDs 49.0 EPA
Leonard (LOL): 1102 yards, 57.6%, 6.7 Avg, 3 TDs, 3 INs - 4 rushing TDs Irrelevantly low EPA
Maye: 3,354 yards, 8.7 Avg, 22 TDs, 7 INTs - 8 rushing TDs 73.0 EPA

Lol.. they aren't close except for McCarthy and Maye. But McCarthy is struggling down the stretch and Beck is just getting better and better. Maye is still banking a bit on potential rather than raw results. Didn't really take the step forward everyone was hoping for.
