7:34 What do you think the Braves next move will be?

7:35 A lot of tinkering around the edges of the roster thus far, but I do think Anthopoulos has a big move in him. Probably a pitching-related trade, whether it's one of Burnes, Bieber, or Cease.

Or, knowing the Braves, a totally off-the-radar pickup that nobody saw coming

Nothing controversial, but I always figured the Braves were more likely to sign a Stroman than trade for a Cease.

So the Dodgers will probably get Yamamoto, Cease, and Glasnow, and we might get Seth Lugo? Sure hope Ynoa and Ian Anderson can give us something.

League approves 80 man roster for dodgers so they can sign all these players you guys think they will get. They are also allowed to play 10 men in the field, like softball, and will have 9 ace starting pitchers who will each throw 1 inning of every game. Then lose in the playoffs.

For anyone who got a bit lost during the Kelenic-related trades: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-braves-angels-and-white-sox-play-contract-musical-chairs/

AA got his LF lottery ticket plus an expensive backup SS for whatever cash he sent to the Pirates with Gonzo plus whatever cash he sent to Chicago with Stassi.

Not sure we will ever know how much cash changed hands, but since none of it counts towards the Braves CBT number (I think?) we shouldn't really care. It seems to be a clever way to spend cash without penalty.

I saw it posted on a Pirates news site that 9 to 10 million was going to them. Not sure how credible that is.

Going to be interesting to see what happens with Roki Sasaki.

Some scuttle that he may be posted within the next 4 days.

That would allow all 30 teams to attempt to sign him to a minor league deal (similar to Ohtani)

Watch it be the Dodgers . . .

The Braves are indirectly paying roughly the same for Kelenic that they would have for the guys I mentioned. And I’m not sure where this narrative came from that he’s a better defender than that group of guys.

Well for one he's 23 compared to early-mid 30s for that group (aside from Verdugo). Secondly, he's unquestionably a better defender than Rosario. He's probably better than Kepler (who doesn't seem to be available anyways). And he's on par with Heyward.

So he's at worst, the same defensively while providing significantly more upside with the bat. Rosario, Heyward, and Kepler are all far more likely to revert back to pre-2023 performance that they are to repeat 2023.

Actually the reports are that his team is likely not going to post him this year.

Dodgers trade LH relief pitcher Victor Gonzalez and their #10 prospect INF Jorbit Vivas to the Yankees for Yankees' former 1st-round pick INF Trey Sweeney. Sweeney was ranked anywhere from #3 to #15 in the Yankees' system depending on which prospect-ranking publication you think does it best.

So to me, the bigger question is how can MLB allow this in the future? For example, what's to stop AA from sending $50M with Olson a few years from now to the Pirates if he ages poorly? That's essentially allowing a team to buy their way out of bad contracts in terms of CBT penalties.

I understand this is mostly about the Dodgers clearing two 40-man roster spots for Ohtani and Kelly.
