They have two in the postseason.

Tigers possibly pushing to trade Upton

They're playing him most of the time, they just didn't against Kershaw. He'll play against the Indians starters since they throw right-handed. Assuming Chicago would eat some of the salary, I agree it'd be smart to buy low on him since there's a decent chance he rebounds next year, but he has...

I mean, the walk to Heyward worked out for the Dodgers. Baez made an easy out. Even assuming they don't walk Heyward and he makes an out, as you said they'd still walk Baez to force out Chapman, so Montero would still come to bat and the same thing may happen.

    Around MLB 2016 style

Yeah, also resigning Fowler looks key. They'd probably be more interested in Inciarte then Markakis. Although if Soler is terrible they could still play Javier Baez instead. If Baez struggles they could shift Bryant or Zobrist to LF and start La Stella, or bring up Almora for CF. They have...

Heyward to Cubs for less than $200M

Yes, if he opt outs the $20 million is no longer deferred and is paid immediately.

Heyward to Cubs for less than $200M

He also received a $20 million deferred signing bonus that is paid after he leaves. So if he opts out after the third year he would have made $78 million over the course of the contract, or $26 million AAV.

Heyward to Cubs for less than $200M

Since we're on the topic of payroll, some people might appreciate this image listing 2015 opening day payroll / 2014 revenue. The Braves percentage is second to last at 37%, only the Marlins were lower.

Heyward to Cubs for less than $200M

And it's not like Heyward is bad offensively. 121 wRC+ is good for RF and elite in CF.

Heyward to Cubs for less than $200M

One positive is reportedly the Nationals offered more money but Heyward decided he'd rather play for the Cubs.

Ex Brave Tommy Hanson dead at age 29

From the description I'd say it was most likely Asherson's Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease.

Braves donate Justin Upton to Padres for prospects

Dave Cameron made a compelling argument on fangraphs that Upton should not cost more then Heyward.

9/19 METS (Wheeler) vs. BRAVES (Teheran), 7:35

Heyward did get hit in the thumb by a pitch the day before yesterday. He was taken out of that game due to it becoming to swollen to throw and swelling can last several days so maybe it is still an issue. Hopefully he's been icing it and taking anti-inflammatory drugs. Not sure why Terdo...

    GDT: 9-16-14: Nationals @ Braves

It's incredibly rare for strep throat to be able to resist antibiotics. More likely Gattis also had a different viral infection also causing a sore throat and that's what has persisted. Of course, it's impossible for us to know but hopefully he went back to a doctor after his symptoms didn't...

    GDT: 9-16-14: Nationals @ Braves

Strep throat isn't contagious approximately 24 hours after antibiotics are ingested. Of course, symptoms usually go away within 36 to 48 hours and Gattis is way over that.
