“We were really close on pulling the trigger on a deal to bring in a big name bat, but ultimately we decided the dynamics just weren’t right for our ballclub.”
AA quote in a week, probably.
Murphy is such a great catcher even without the offense. Check our team ERA with him catching as opposed to anyone else over the last few years. But, yeah, I’d have a hard time justify not trading him if we were blown away.
I’m about ready to fire his dumb ass.
And not because the long term deals he gave out are backfiring and the window is closing because of it. And not because I don’t think he’s been a good, even great GM overall. But because there have been things over the last couple years that tell me he is...
I mean, I didn’t watch most of the game yesterday, but if Strider really is pumping 98 over multiple innings, then it’s safe to say that he is well on his way back.
That’s the thing, there is no fixing this offense by acquiring other players even if we wanted to. Albies and Harris aren’t going anywhere. Neither is Profar due to contract. They’ll have to fix themselves.
Braves are going to continue to struggle scoring runs as long as Albies and Harris are awful. Unless Profar is 2024 Profar and Riley remembers that he’s an All-Star and not just a decent hitter.
