Would the offseason be a success if they sign Profar, Kim, and Scherzer, and trade with the Twins for Lopez+? And maybe switch AJSS and Waldrep to the bullpen?
Some out-there ideas since we just blew through the 3rd luxury tax.
Ryan McMahon of the Colorado Rockies. Plays 2B and maybe could play OF if/when Ozzie returns.
Tarik Skubal - Detroit SP - would be very very expensive.
Riley Greene - Detroit OF - also would be very expensive.
It's about preserving the ability to send him down to the minors later without his permission. They can do this now, but in 4-5 days, he gains the power to prevent it.
So maybe there's a scenario where he doesn't make the team out of spring training. They could leave him in the minors as...
Liberty Media owns Formula One and has made billions in the international marketplace. They may see an Ohtani signing (and hopefully a Yamamoto signing, too) as moves that would cement the Braves as an international brand. Low, low probability that this happens, but the extra revenue just might...
And here's one for Yamamoto:
Input:
You are a baseball general manager. Write a detailed free agent contract offer for Yoshinobu Yamamoto. If the signing bonus is deferred in whole or in part, the amount of the deferral cannot be more than the total signing bonus amount. If the player is...
I just submitted contract questions to Google's artificial intelligence tool as part of a work exercise.
Here's the input for Max Fried:
You are a baseball general manager. Write a detailed free agent contract offer for Max Fried to start when his current contract with the Atlanta Braves...
Yeah, I'm a real account... Just a bit on the hopeful side. I very much doubt we'll get 1 Japanese player, much less 3.
My username is because my grandparents liked the Walton's show long ago and there was a John Boy character on there that I looked like.
Could we add Ohtani, Yamamoto, *and* Shota Imanaga? That's 3 Japanese players. Revenue would skyrocket (and player costs, too). That's potentially 3 SP's from 2025 onward. We would need to trade some players off of this year's team (maybe Fried and Ozuna?) and what if Morton's return isn't...
What if the plan is Yamamoto, Strider, Fried + Morton, Elder, etc. in the playoffs, w/ Ohtani DH this year and DH+SP next year to replace a departing Fried? Ozuna to LF in this overpriced dream-world...
From next year, Fried's estimated cost of 25 mm+ plus Ozuna's figure for this year at 18 mm = 43 mm per year. Take those two budget slots and apply to Ohtani. Or replace Fried going forward with Yamamoto at roughly the same price. I'm hopeful we add either and would love to see both.
