Obviously a lot of unreported ballots out there, but Andruw at 80% with 12% reported, in a relatively weak 2026 field, leads me to feel he’s getting in this year. Wouldn’t be surprised, indeed, if it’s him and Beltran.

Surprised he didn’t get another year or two at a lower AAV from a contender; but he may see his likelihood of being traded at the deadline as a positive. Either way, relievers are getting paid so far this offseason.

I think his comment had more to do with the specific acquisition cost of Peralta than a fundamental obliviousness to surplus value re Free Agency. And given what the the Rays received for Shane Baz, I’d bet Peralta’s cost would be pretty steep. Fair to debate whether six cheap years of Ritchie...

Would love to see the Braves sign Tatsuya Imai. I think he has the best mix of upside, age, and lack of acquisition cost (no QO penalty, will only cost money). Moreover, it’s been long overdue for the team to dip their toe back into the East Asian FA market.

Amongst the non-QO guys, Chris Bassit seems like a decent depth-play on a very short (one- or creative two-year) deal; he’s projected for 2.1 fwar after posting 2.4 in 2025. I’d also love to see the Braves finally make a splash with a posted Japanese player: Tatsuya Imai has some intriguing...

Only World Series game I’ve attended was the Rangers clinching against the Diamondbacks in Phoenix. Arizona was playing with free money that year.

Lee (obviously) as well as Payamps and Manoah will be tendered, and Fraley is likely as well. Brujan may stick around, too, just because he’s so cheap.

It’s like MLB still thinks MNF is an “event” instead of one of a dozen opportunities to watch NFL each week. Gotta have faith in your product and go head-to-head sometimes.

    New Manager Discussion

There are legitimate concerns I have with bringing Chipper into the role; but the main “approach” concerns are the same I have with Hyers, and the former already seems like better than the latter at translating his instructions into results for players, in the limited data we have.

You’re certainly correct, but I’d rather see the Braves continue to balance short-, medium-, and long-term goals. Baldwin looks as if he could be a cornerstone for all three.

It’s also possible Anthopoulos was regularly communicating with Snitker, knew his state of mind, and “did not exactly provide resounding support for him returning in 2026 as manager” because he was so well-aware that Snitker was very much on-the-fence, thereby giving Snitker space and cover to...

Lex parsimoniae. And I agree—no reason to impute insidious machinations when there’s no actual evidence of anything untoward.
