Big takeaway is that 20/20 isn’t particularly impressive, especially after the rule changes. As the author states, it’s much harder to post a low-value 30/30 season.

Even if he is what he was he was in 2025, you’re looking at a 1.5 fwar pitcher—but I definitely think he will improve in 2026. If he doesn’t get back to elite status, that really sucks, but a ~3.0 fwar mid-rotation starter at his salaries will still represent surplus value.

It’s depth with upside. Not sure how anyone can be mad. The team still needs to add an impact starter in the offseason.
