Fangraphs has our tax payroll at $194M FWIW i will definitely lose a lot of enthusiasm as a fan if AA doesn't make some major moves this offseason, but sometimes you just have to accept that nothing really monumental either way has happened and reserve judgment

The first two points mean they won't be getting much back for him, and well-run teams in contention generally don't trade 3-win players to gamble on guys who have never played in the majors bader is absolutely getting more per year, look at the fangraphs projection

Bader just turned down a $10 million option and he's coming off the best year of his career, he's going to get more than that in FA. We gave Profar 3/42 and he can't even play LF, much less CF. I have a feeling Diaz will get more than that too. Why would the Mariners trade Crawford when...

somebody posted a link about trade candidates the other day (enscheff maybe?) that mentioned the twins' situation. the owners tried to sell the team but couldn't find a buyer because it's carrying ~$400M in debt. it seems like they might be desperate to shed salary above all else.

nacho's EV was only 86 and we already knew he had an advanced approach at the plate. unless his defense took a step forward i don't think much has changed about his outlook. likewise clohisy's .742 OPS isn't really impressive given how hitter-friendly the AFL is sinnard definitely took a step...

i'm more concerned about his shoulder injury combined with a big drop in velocity and strikeout rate his numbers as a reliever are decent for sure

i had assumed johnson was a lock to come back, but looking at his numbers he's actually been pretty underwhelming since the season we acquired him and i'm not sure he's worth $7 million. too bad bummer's guaranteed next season. if we acquire multiple SP like we should and move lopez and holmes...

    New Manager Discussion

i feel like i saw giants fans mention his name a few times in discussion about Vitello (e.g. "At least we're not hiring Kurt Suzuki") haven't heard anything about his actual managerial qualifications, but the angels are a joke organization so...

agreed. teams like the marlins, pirates and athletics being allowed to run their pathetic payrolls every year is much worse for fan interest than the dodgers spending $300 million

Yeah pretty much this I would also think if they were going internal they'd have announced it shortly after snitker's retirement, but i'm not going to get my hopes up

i mean has any team announced a new manager other than the one everyone already knew was going with their in-house guy?

lombard, for one. who knows who else? the doomposting is getting exhausting. the one thing everyone wanted to kick off the offseason has happened, and people are still twisting themselves into knots finding new reasons to be upset for some reason.

Do y'all think it's possible for the Braves to ever become a window-less team, ala the Dodgers n Yankees?

i think they absolutely can become a team that sustains extended success without needing to enter a full rebuild, but i don't think they quite have the resources to be contenders literally every year like the yankees or dodgers.
