I think we no longer need anything.
AA can just sit back and look for opportunities. If there is x million left he can offer it to someone who gets nervous late in free agency musical chairs and see if we get lucky.
I know you wanted 20 million but we have 10 and a great team for one year. Or...
I feel similarly about this as I did about glasnow.
I wouldn’t count on sale. I would work with him to get enough innings for him to be sharp and ready for the playoffs.
Maybe that’s just 12-15 starts. Skip him all the time. Just be dialed in for post season bc he still has miss bat stuff.
I disagree that MLB does not have parity. The issue with MLB play is that a handful of owners are not trying to win and just trying to make money through the revenue sharing that is there.
The NFL is winning b/c the USA loves the violence and the one game per week. More stakes.
MLB model is...
I love the idea of Glasnow. B/c All I'd want to do is have him ready to be nasty 2x through the line up in the post season. Elder can get us there, but I want Glasnow in the post season.
Margot seems like someone we could move on by paying 3/4 of the salary or just have as a bench guy.
I...
The deferrals will be an interesting issue. It is a way around the tax's intent. It keeps player salaries high, can allow for concentrated teams and keeps making the poor teams look bad. It also gets around the tax's mechanism of paying the poor teams for doing nothing.
I could be a big...
Do they care? The tax is to keep the rich for making the poor look bad. They say it's for competition. If the poor are getting paid by the rich to take on the rich team's mistakes, they may LOVE that. Not sure why the players care unless they don't want to finish the last years of their...
Was there not an internet story where a guy traded a red paper clip and kept trading it until he got a car?
That is AA. He’s going to keep trading bad players and bad contracts until suddenly he lands glasnow.
Understood.
I really like the deal. I think he's solid on defense and like the LH bat.
I think the upside is very real. I think when they hit him 8th or 9th and he sees a diet of fastballs b/c they are frightened to walk anyone in front of Ronnie, he'll do very well. I think they'll treat...
agree 100%
Only add that the last two post seasons we've had 1-2 starters. AA may have some PTSD. He's going to want depth. Ideally only 1 of Elder/AJSS/Waldrep do you have in your regular rotation this year. The younger guys also have the option of having stuff that plays up in the Pen or...
I'd love the Yama move b/c of the tax issues and the lack of draft pick losses. I just don't see a Japanese pitcher coming to ATL. I hope he's all about winning and wants to come to us.
Interesting that the Braves are already saying we will stretch him out.
I wonder if this is AA adjusting for the playoffs. This is a guy who could be a solid 4 or great 5 starter and then be a stud pen arm in the playoffs when we go down to 3 starters (or less in recent Braves history).
AA...
Agree 100%.
I don't think we will buy a Fried replacement. Too expensive.
I think the hope is that the big 3 we had of Fried, Strider, Wright from two years ago is replaced by Strider, FA, AJSS/Waldrep.
I like the scouting report on the Asian pitcher but being so far from Japan and the KK...
I'd like to have less teams in, but that ship has sailed.
The sport does not do well in small samples. I'd want all division winners to get 7 game series.
I'd like to have less off days to make it more like the regular season. To challenge your depth.
If they keep the current 5 game series...
