GDT 7/6: Bobby Cox Sunday Special

To me, the biggest problem is that there doesn’t seem to be an offensive game plan. The intention seems to be to make the lineup more patient, which is a good idea on the surface. But patience just means waiting for your pitch, recognizing it, and putting your best swing on it. These hitters...

GDT 7/6: Bobby Cox Sunday Special

The most surprising thing about this game is that there’s 34,000 poor souls who thought that this was a worthwhile way to spend their Sunday afternoon

Nothing like giving up doubles to guys with .383 OPS

Schwellenbach to the IL - Fractured Right Elbow

Wow, this sucks hard. The list of reasons to continue watching is getting smaller by the day…

GDT 6/28: Harris Not In The Lineup

Lol…that pitch wasn’t even close. Edit: Of course, we don’t know how the umpire called the game prior to that moment. I‘m sure there was a history. It’s just funny that he boils over on a pitch that’s clearly outside

GDT 6/28: Harris Not In The Lineup

In the sports world, the notion of pressure has a stigma, but that misses the mark most of the time. Pressure is actually a good thing, as long as it’s the motivating kind, not the paralyzing kind. It helps athletes perform with more focus and intensity. Ballclubs with a winning culture put...

    6/27: Phillies game 1

So FF, Ohtani etc. were playing for a new contract when they demolished the Yankees in the WS? If what you say were true, someone would have figured that out by now and contracts for star players would be getting shorter, not longer. This team has clearly checked out. And if we‘re honest, the...

GDT 6/26/25: Braves @ Mets: Win The Series Holmes

Is there a historical precedent for an offense tanking like this, going from historically great to bottom 3rd in the league within a span of 2 seasons? With the same core players, none of which are at the age where they should decline considerably? I wouldn't say it's inexplicable, but the...

GDT 6/24/25: Braves @ Mets - Are we about to hit our STRIDer?

Honestly, I'd rather see him get a few days rest after playing every game for years. Screw the ASG. Same for Ronald (at least keep him out of the HR Derby) Oh, and great win! Would be nice if they could apply these new-found comeback qualities to teams other than the Mets as well.

GDT 6/24/25: Braves @ Mets - Are we about to hit our STRIDer?

Not sure if it was posted yet, but Ronald has now passed Soto in bWAR…who is actually having a really good season. That is wild.

Sale to 15-Day IL With Fractured Ribcage

A very brittle ace, as we just found out. This is just one in a long line of freak injuries: broken finger after being hit by liner, broken wrist falling off a bike, previous rib fractures,… We‘re not talking about trading Randy Johnson here.

Elder leading us to a series win. 6/22 GDT

The question is: Is there someone on the AAA coaching staff good enough to teach him pitch recognition and plate discipline? If not, what are you accomplishing by sending him down? The Braves are already proving that they‘re okay with him learning on the job.

Elder leading us to a series win. 6/22 GDT

Ozzie was a legitimate 4 WAR player until 2023. Although admittedly I never understood how he did it.
