Not really because as expected some of our top prospects are losing value. If you could have traded Kyle Wright and Cleavinger two years ago when he was considered a top 30 pick wouldn't you have knowing what you know now? Or traded Folty two years ago as well. Truth is we haven't hit that...
What would the equivalent for us be if we have offered the same? Did Padres overpay or get a deal?
I'm now hoping we go after Plesac. Less expensive and more years of control. What would it take?
I would consider it... arguements can be made that you can find good DH for cheaper but if Drew and Pache come up we will extend the window in which we will have some pretty cheap every day players allowing us to pay Ozuna for a few years.
A coworker of mine just heard a Puig rumor to the Braves. Could be total bull given that Neck and Freeman and him being a free agent. He says it's from the Athletic but I don't have access so can't corroborate.
But let's pretend they are at least considering it.
Are you in favor or against?
For me it's both Kimbrel and Simmons, but not because we traded them but because in my opinion the prospects haven't panned out. I was always OK with blowing team up but thought Hart and company didn't do a good job getting value in return with many of our trades. Even the Folty trade hasn't...
Reason why royals didn't become good instantaneously was that they actually brought many young player into big league team and it took time. What Braves can do prior to 17 season is use prospects for trades and become good immediately (see what Padres did this year).
Have a strong farm gives...
My problem is not trading Heyward away. I actually agree with many here that we had at best a 50/50 chance to resign him. It's that we traded him to the Cardinals first because I really don't like them (Drew trade anyone), and most importantly I think there was no need to include Walden. We...
My guess is that they had to add several years to the contract to get more money. So yes good news but at what cost?
If we were getting $500 Million more for the next 13 years until 2027 (previous end of contract date) that means $38+ Million more a year. If we had to tack on several years...
