I do think player leadership has played a role here and there, but it probably has more to do with losing key personnel. Wash and EY were brutal losses for a lot of these guys. And Snit - he’s still revered, but he’s just an old dude now. He’s not going to win you games with sharp decisions...
I tuned out four days ago, and it's been great for my mental. I love this team so much, but I just can't deal with whatever the hell is happening. In the end, I think it's a mix of regression, underperformance, and apathy. I'll probably just lurk with some days where I chime in here and there...
What you're seeing is exactly why the Braves aren't consistently good. Everything they hit, no matter how hard, is on the ground. lift the ball slightly and the chance goes up a ton.
Also, I don't understand how Holmes can get so many three-pitch Ks and then walk the world. Just attack
I badly want to believe in the Braves, but the team - mainly the offense - refuses to do the little things right. I genuinely don't understand the apathy, but it's the exact word I'd use to describe what I see every night.
I'm finding it hard to be upset about this loss. Definitely some head-scratchers, but I don't fault Fuentes. And the big inning was a massive fluke, by the numbers, for the Mets.
