I will give the Braves the benefit of the doubt after the success of Schwellenbach but I am shocked as hell.

I agree. Freeman was our replacement for Chipper. Its not about who is better. Its about keeping our homegrown franchise players.

I am guessing Fuentes is probably just a spot start to set up the rotation against the Mets again and they just feel better with him than any other spot starter when we still have to win every game we can. But it will be interesting to see what happens if they do send him back down with the open roster spot. Is Hernandez close to being back?

Dont they have to add him to the 40 man roster and this will use up one of his minor league option years. Thats a lot just to tank one game.

Even if ready. He needs a few rehab runs to make sure he can throw a few strikes.
My working theory is that they are trying to boost his trade value in order to make him a headliner for a big trade. We don't currently have the ammo to make such a trade unless we want to trade Baldwin (we aren't).

Spoiler - he can't throw strikes. He never has, and he never will.
People make more of a big deal about this than that really is.
If his minor league options becomes an issue in the future then he is going to be a fringe player anyways.

Of course I have to be at Chucky freaking cheese for this game.
If he does well I wouldn't be surprised he ends up in the bullpen for the rest of the year.

Maybe the hope is that he can have a AJSS type of start to his career where his raw stuff is tantalizing at the MLB level but not yet refined. Someone might fall in love with the raw stuff.
Very interested to see this Didier guy since heās getting some hype on the board.
Heās throw 50 heaters (of 71 total pitches) in AAA and statcast says itās very similar to the one AJSS throws. The control looks reasonably good based on his walk rate.

I just hope itās not a showcase and heās trade bait. That would suck. Iād rather- if heās really this good- to put him in the pen as mentioned above.
