Schwellenbach to the IL - Fractured Right Elbow

We reportedly were willing to give up Murphy in a Devers trade. So regardless what happens at the deadline, I don't think Murphy will be on the 2026 squad barring a major injury to Baldwin over the next 3 months.

Murphy should absolutely be on the block and he appears to be heating up at the right time. He should be able to bring back either an MLB ready starter or a SS.
Were we willing to include Murphy, or was the inclusion of both Murphy and Ozuna what killed the deal. I don’t think them asking for him means we were willing to move him in that deal.

I suspect he is available, but to fill a need, not just get a DH bat.

The rumor is the Red Sox balked when we asked them to kick in a significant amount of money on top of the package we offered. Of course a month ago Ozuna had an OPS around .900, so it probably was a bit of a move for now and the future for them, since Devers and Ozuna weren't far off in production at the time.

We need to get 2 SP so we can go into the year with Reynaldo and Holmes as the 6th and 7th SP. Best case scenario everyone is healthy they go to the pen where we know they can be elite. I dont think we need top tier SP. 2 mid range SP like Suarez and Bassitt. We still need money to add someone like Bichette.
I think they go all out for Cease. They've been after him for several years now. I would move Holmes and Lopez both to the bullpen and use them as SP depth. Sale is gone after next year and Cease can take that spot when he's gone. Healsey would be a good get for the BP and maybe Chapman? Bichette should be the main target going into the offseason. I do believe AA let this season go so he could reset the tax and spend like crazy this coming offseason before the new CBA hits next year.

He may do that but he may not do it here. Morton wanted to be here or TB and TB couldn't afford him. Sale hasn't said anything like that so we can't assume we will have him on that same type of deal.

Sale seems like a guy that just wants to win. So whoever gives him a fair deal and looks to be competing is likely going to be high on his list. That should include the Braves for the next few years.

I also think he has a lot of pride, in an old-school way, so the Braves buying low and investing in him is likely meaningful to him to some extent.

He's also a Florida guy. Staying close to home I'm sure has some benefit. That being said. It almost always comes down $$$ and opportunity for a ring.
