2025 Trade Deadline Thread

Can anyone point me to a successful major league hitter who had strikeout rates similar to Carson's in the minors? Not trying to be snarky, I just genuinely can't think of anyone.
He's got the power, speed, arm, and glove the k rate is high though just looked

What's his rate? Eley de la Cruz had a big k rate in milb
Oh yeah de la Cruz was pretty close, Williams is slightly worse at 31.4%. Big difference is Williams is a .249 career hitter in the minors and de la Cruz batted around .300 most years.

Feel like that's the profile of a guy who's likely not going to hit at all in the majors, but he does have enough power that he wouldn't need to hit much.

His defense is legit and has a cannon to. He already has 16 stolen bases and 15 homers to boot

According to this, no one under control for next season will be moved

I'll believe it when I see it. You wouldn't telegraph your intentions anyways since you lose negotiating power when you do.

It would be dumb to sit on Murphy with so many contenders in need of an upgrade at catcher and with Murphy getting hot.

This reminds me of my other pro team, the saints. When it was obvious that the decline was at hand whether it be performance or constant injuries, they didn't shake it up. In fact, they double and tripled down until it had to be completely blown up. AA is making the same mistake. I hope the braves aren't as loyal to AA as the saints are to Loomis.

prince albert is a sub 1 win pitcher making sub 1 win money. He can be replaced fairly easily. Trading him is not about the return, but more about reallocating his 2026 money to better the team.

I would rather see the Braves use that 7 million as part of a bigger contract for a more elite pen arm. Then scatter in some internal options so the pen is not costing the team 40+ million next year. Harris/Waldrep/Lara/others should all been given a look this year for pen roles next year. you still have DH/Lee/JJ for next year..

Easily replaceable but when we need a few we cant find them. The point isnt that we cant find more or better relievers but that they will cost prospects and/or multi-year contracts. And look at the results for high end relievers in FA. Its a minefield. I rather keep Johnson for 2026 as we transition to those young arms instead of trading PJ and signing a big name reliever for 15+ million over 4+ years that very well could still shit the bed like Iggy did this year.

I don't think we would get enough back to make it worth it. Keeping PJ would give us PJ, JJ, Lee, DH, Lopez, Bummer and Holmes if we load up the rotation next year that's a pretty good start.

Joey Gallo. Though your definition of "successful" may be different.

He compares favorably to Trevor Story, except he won't have the benefit of hitting in Coors.

Again. I am not worried about return. I think reallocating Bummers 9 million and PJ 7 million along with using internal options is a better plan. Lopez and Holmes could be nice replacements for those guys alone and that frees up 16 million for an elite pen guy.

And I agree the reliever market is a land mine. But you can’t bitch about crappy players and at the same time sit on the sideline afraid to take a bad contract.

That all said I don’t think he is going to trade much. I actually think he is going to hold onto Ozuna and claim no good offers came along. Iggy might be the only guy traded.

I doubt we could pull Carson Williams, but that should be the goal.

If we can't nab him, I would target 1 or both of Brayden Taylor and Theo Gillen. They were both drafted as Shortstops. Not sure what Taylor's defense is like, but they've basically moved him off the position this year. But he definitely has the arm for the position according to reports.

Gillen hasn't played SS professionally but he was a SS in high school and has 70 grade speed. He had a strong arm before labrum surgery in HS but it was considered average or worse by the draft. He likely has the skills to play SS, but I am not sure what his arm is like now.

Grant Holmes is a guy that would really interest the Rays. Package Holmes with Murphy to get the best possible return

Wonder if the Rays would come off Wander Franco. Only 24 and would set up SS for us for the foreseeable future. His youthful enthusiasm could be the spark the Braves need.

They also have the 42nd pick that would be nice to have but with the draft in just 3 days that ain't gonna happen now. If Aloy drops to 22 and we can get him then he would be ready in probably a year
