Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

I’m not going to get up on a soapbox over this or anything, but I don’t think it’s ideal in the long-term for the Attorney General to suggest that a doctor faking medical records and defrauding the government by throwing out vaccines was just doing a public service instead of a crime. Parents should have been free to make whichever choices for their children they saw fit, but to pretend someone was vaccinated who wasn’t, including apparently to the patient themselves, doesn’t work for me. Do the children or the parents of children who chose to keep their children in settings where the vaccine was required for attendance not deserve informed consent? This strikes me as a “rights for me and not for thee” deal.

Team Trump realized that they can’t talk their way out of Epstein and have decided that Biden enlisting a scribe for his insanely unethical pardons is the real story today.

Seriously, why are we not just talking about how Biden himself issued the exact types of nonsense pardons that should get a President impeached? There’s a real conversation to be had, and it’s being muddied for political convenience.

I do, however, hope this leads to a renewed zeal for limiting the autonomy of the Executive Branch. Between governing through EOs, whatever we’re doing with National Emergencies these days and the overly broad protections of Executive Privilege, we afford too much leniency to the person who can unilaterally direct the military if we let them. While it’s important to have transparency in who is making the decisions and I take no issue with Congress investigating the use of the auto pen, it will be a complete fucking waste if we don’t also address the fact that if we don’t trust Joe Biden’s advisors to do it why we would trust Biden himself in the first place.

The continued issue that nobody focuses on. They are criminals for being here illegally, and they are criminals for evading taxes. Thats two major crimes. Get them out

I9 Fraud is rampant in this country, and the employers are very much complicit, if not driving the bus entirely. By the time the SSA gets wise to it the employee has already paid in their tax obligation through payroll taxes. If the SSA does catch wind of it, the employee gets fired and re-hired under a new I9. If an employer doesn’t participate in eVerify, this is about as easy as it could possibly be.

I pay income tax monthly

I guess they elect "10 dependents, no income" and just get to not pay in?
In a past work life I watched the Federal Witholdings come out from the paychecks of people who are not legal. SSA would send out letters asking us to investigate how wages were being reported by a specific SSN and deal with the issue if they reported incorrectly. I don’t personally pay for my federal income tax in any other way than those employees did through withholdings from my pay.
