Braves Acquire Rockies Pitcher Tyler Kinley

For real though, I don't get this move. Unless he pitches his ass off the last 2 months, we won't be picking up the option.

I get targeting relievers like Pierce Johnson, who you think you can fix. But Pierce Johnson was pre-arb.
 
I assume this is a pre-cursor to other moves.. but he hasn't been horrible the last month or so.. but none of his pitches are worth a shit. So I agree with Carp, that option is a pretty easy decline.
 
Gave up Austin Smith, who is nothing. Double A reliever, 26 years old and nothing all that exciting.
 
never mind targeting a Rockies pitcher tbh... just never know how they will perform away from that place and with new coaching. so who knows on this guy.
 
Maybe he'll see better results if he's out of coors, his home/away splits are interesting (.352 woba at home/.269 away)

Because the team needs bodies with useable arms in the pen
 
eh, like Pierced Johnson there may be some pitch mix tweaks that can make him level up. Getting him away from Coors ain't gonna hurt either.
