Let's Talk About Media

I’d rather live in a country where people are allowed to say what they want to say, regardless of whether it “radicalizes” anyone, rather than a country where the government shuts down speech.

I see - you’d rather live in a country where anyone right of communist is hunted.

Smart. Difficult to match the dizzying intellect of a L

Maybe Polis will save us all!

Yes that is what I am for. Being for free speech means being for people “being hunted,” says the communist that believes we need communism to stop communism.

Why don’t you appeal to sav to ban me from these boards before my influence spreads, since we know you believe bad ideas can be snuffed out if we simply ban them (why hasn’t anyone ever thought of that before?!)

One day you’ll look back and be embarrassed by the way you engaged with people here…

I’m aware you don’t think this is what you’re for. Doesn’t mean it’s reality.

One day you’ll realize your silly adolescent worldview doesn’t work in actual real world situations.

WHy do any of this? If we do nothing and let hte market figure this out places like MSNBC will stop calling all right wingers Hitler and the left wing NGO's will stop trying to make crime legal in cities.

L response
I see we’ve gotten lost on the way to the “Is Free Speech Under Attack?” Thread. I can cross-post this attack on free speech there for you if you’d like.

I thought we could suspend freedoms if the country was in an emergency?

That’s what we have done in the past?
I’m shaken up by the assassination of Kirk, but it’s genuinely absurd to declare us to be in a state of emergency that requires restricting the constitutional liberties of the American people.

And we simply shouldn’t have done a lot of the things we’ve done in the past in the name of national security or public good. As a good example of when we got it wrong in my estimation, see COVID, January 6th and 9/11. That’s not an excuse to get it wrong again.

It’s sarcasm-

But seriously what kinda car are we bombing? I still gotta get my kid a bat so let me know when we can loot and burn

I caught the sarcasm, but either your sarcasm is meant to conflate a couple assassination attempts with a global pandemic or to justify more abuses of liberty. Even if you scoff at the actual danger COVID itself presented to public health, the pretext itself is still more in-line with a national emergency. And to be honest, if you’re faced with restricting rights over an assassination attempt, you’re inevitably going to run up against the 2nd Amendment.

No I just realy want someone to tell me when the looting and burning of cities starts

That’s what the democrats do. No one will answer me.

Or self reflect on why
