It’s also hilarious that Passan had it before the beat guys and the team announcement (I think). Edit: nvm looks like he didn’t report it before the announcement
 
Has Shanks weighed in?

I was hoping for a fresh slate from the manager on down to the coaching staff and the minor league development staff. I have nothing against Weiss personally, but as others have said there are already enough dinosaurs in the La Brea tarpits. We don't need another heading up the Braves.

My explanation for the delay is that Anthopoulos probably wanted to wait until the World Series was over to make the announcement.

We can only hope against hope that he has taken the last month to have some serious talks with Weiss about adapting. The makeup of the staff will be the tale of the tape.

The Braves beat is pretty pathetic.

for all his sucking up DOB never has any scoop.

The big fella does a little better sometimes but the breaks always seem to come from national sources
 
This is so stupid, I don’t even know what to say. Luckily we have a talented roster, but there has to be something more to this that we don’t know about. I’m going to be nice and withhold judgement until the season starts because somehow Snit lead us to a WS. Still can’t wrap my mind around it though.

Bowman had some sort of weird tweet that made it seemed like someone had tipped him off it was going to be an internal hire earlier today.
 
Well… here’s hoping Weiss committed to AA to be a complete lackey and will follow a script like Snit in 2021. I don’t have much faith.

In hindsight, AA deserves even more blame for leash extended to Snit over the years.

I could go either way. A lot thought that Snit was probably told, “we love you but you can’t come back” and that was likely not the case.
 
Is the Braves roster even that talented?

No depth. Injuries have placed a ceiling on some of our stars (Riley, Albies, Strider, Murphy).

It’s not inconceivable a lot of the guys rebound, but it’s hard to see a 100 win roster without squinting really hard.

We are at the point of our contention window where a managerial edge is needed most.

Spot on. Injuries played a part but regression was gonna happen at some point. I think Baldwin, Acuna, and Olson will be fine but everybody else is up in the air and you can't have that many on a roster with championship dreams. AA better spend the shit out of some money this offseason.
 
Someone on Battery Power made a very good point: "Bobby Cox was first hired when he was 37, and then rehired as GM at 45 and manager again at 49."

When Cox was hired he was the new young manager. So why do they insist on hiring old dinosaur managers as if it's some nod to Cox's success just because he was old when he retired?

It's pure stupidity, and I agree that the tweets from Fatty make it seem like Lehmann was the guy until he suddenly wasn't for some inexplicable reason.

Even if the Dodgers swooped in and made an astronomical offer to Lehmann to be the manager in waiting for when Roberts decides he’s done, it doesn’t excuse not going with Lombard or even Ross. If we were going old dude, I would have offered it to Bob Melvin.
