2025-2026 offseason thread

This has been amongst the dumbest shit I’ve ever read here and that’s really saying something.

So you are acknowledging that declining kinley’s option means nothing either way? Are you off your meds or something?
Again, for the 7th time, logic.

It means nothing is exactly correct. However, since we are fearing he has no money, any news that isn’t showing us he has money is unwelcome. Every piece of news will either make us think he has money, or it won’t. This move does not make us think he has money.

Refusing to acknowledge logic because you’re worked up is being emotional. We are not supposed to be emotional around here until cy says it’s ok.

I get the same feeling.
You said this in response to someone being concerned AA is broke because he declined kinley’s option.

So way back on page 48, declining kinley’s option was an indicator to you.

Suddenly, you are acknowledging it’s meaningless…which is what the sane side said right away.

Take a nap dude

You keep whining “logic” while applying absolutely none of it.

“Any news that isn’t showing us he has money is unwelcome.” So what does the kinley move show us?

Picking up the option would not indicate he has money, and it wouldn’t indicate the opposite either. Declining the option does not indicate he has money, and it doesn’t indicate the opposite either.

There was zero way to show us here that AA has money.

Likewise, not extending Kim doesn’t tell us much because we have no idea what Boras was asking for in order to keep him away from FA.

Since free agency hasn’t begun, we know very little, or nothing, about how much AA has to spend.

Wrong, again.

I feel that way for many reasons. What made someone else feel that way is irrelevant to me agreeing with them.

Again…logic. It’s frustrating to listen to logic when you insist on being emotional. Maybe you need the nap?

I’m glad we all agree now. Can we move on?

AA has the money and I don't think McGuirk would say what he did without knowing the blow back if we didn't spend. After the last 2 trade deadlines and last offseason they will spend big if I had to bet. Hes not gonna spend for the sake of it but there is a player he feels will impact the team he'll make the deal.

Again, logic. You’re almost there actually.

Declining Kinley did not prove he has no money. It also did not prove he has money. As fans we want signs he has money, and declining Kinley was not such a sign. That’s all.

Literally nobody wants Kinley or Fletcher.
Then why TF are we talking about it?

Obviously you think it's at least partially a sign we have no money, or you wouldn't have mentioned it.

Declining Kinley has ZERO bearing on whether or not we have money. It's not part of a trend. It's the same as releasing Alek Manoah or Jake Fraley.

So do the Braves have money
do they not have money
is AA afraid to use the money..

I am really lost now

But seriously, I think folks are attacking cheff just to look like they got em... I think if anyone would step back and look at the entire picture.. they woud agree

didn't buy at the '24 deadline, went on vaca the entire '25 offseason, and forgot there was even a deadline in '25.. then to start the season, we get a few week delay to announce WW as manager.. then decline multiple options {similar to last offseason}... all while hearing the same lip service we have been hearing for a year and a half about how awesome the Braves are going to spend..

yeah it is easy to get concerned and as you hear each deal getting sent packing, it can flame those fears... so while cutting ties with Kinley means shit on its own.. cumulative, it becomes concerning...

Theres no reason to believe the first luxury cap tier is the budget limit. In 2024 with a 270 million payroll they paid 14 million in tax as a second time payer. For this years luxury cap that would be 284 million for that same tier. And having reset the penalties it will still cost us less in tax. They seem willing to add money in short terms so the payroll will look high but the overall spending will be low. Maybe we sign one long term deal. Maybe,

Braves CBT history via RosterResource . . .

2023 (first CBT threshold is $233m): Braves CBT payroll is $245.9m
2024 (first CBT threshold is $237m): Braves CBT payroll is $276.9m
2025 (first CBT threshold is $241m): Braves CBT payroll is $232.8m
2026 (first CBT threshold is $244m): Braves CBT payroll is ??? (The RR estimate for the current roster is $202.4m, but we have many needs to fill)

This part is just my speculation . . .

- There are really draconian penalties for exceeding the CBT threshold 3 years in a row, so the Braves were always planning for their CBT payroll to be below $241m in 2025. They ended up well below that number, as the money they held back for deadline additions was not needed.
- Since we demonstrated a willingness to exceed the CBT threshold by ~$30m in 2024, ending up at $274m when all is said and done is a reasonable guess, IMO.
- CBT payroll does not equal real life payroll, but this would give us something like $70m to spend in total. Maybe they hold back $10-15m of that for in-season acquisitions.
