Yeah, I have to think the Stros have an internal option to replace Dubon for cheaper along with using Allen as a pinch runner and late inning defense sub on the infield.. more about shedding payroll over who they get in return.. AA probably asked them to take Allen so he didn't have to worry about 40 man roster spot.
 
The nice thing is that AA really didn’t give up anything for either Dubon or the pitcher from the Rockies (except the salary differential between Dubon and Allen).

Keep the tradable guys ready for a bigger addition.😉
 
I suppose this means Houston won't be trading Correa. He gives them a lot of flexibility being able to play SS and 3b, and likely OF if needed.
 
Looking at Fangraphs they have Dubon as 8 Outs above average and 6 in Fielding Runs above average........ in 206 innings at SS. Wut. Allen was at 17 OOA and 12 FRV in over 1000 innings at SS.

Doesn't that imply Dubon is a better fielder than Allen? although, I doubt Dubon would be that much better over a 1000 innings as there would be some hits for plays he couldn't make.

Dubon is a better fielder than Allen. You can't really prorate Dubon's SS output over 1000 innings and expect it to remain consistant. Just like I wouldn't say Nick Allen is a +17 SS here on out. Both are great but those numbers are likely just career year type stuff.

That being said. Dubon has won the utility gold glove 2 of the past 3 seasons and plays plus defense at almost every position on the field. Really nice addition.

yeah, that was basically what I was saying. He looks like a great pickup as long as there is some more moves to come.
