2025-2026 offseason thread

With Bassitt being out in Toronto now AA needs to snatch him up. 36 he shouldn't be to bad and he's durable. That should be our rotation piece. I like guys like Joe Ryan but we'd kill our depth getting him bc one of Waldrep or Ritchie or even both would have to go so no thanks to that bc we'd be creating more holes.

Absolutely. I initially thought we could get him on a two-year, $30M deal, but the market makes me think it'll be closer to $40M. Still, totally worth it.

I think a 2/34 could probably work out. To be real contenders we definitely need a SS, SP, RP, and OF. We'll trade for 1-2 of those. Bassitt, Suarez (trade from Padres for RP), Kim (still makes to much sense), and Luis Robert (trade from White Sox). Not sure if AA can swing it financially but I think he can to get back to the top. Robert needs a change of scenery and can swap out with Acuna and Profar at DH. If Robert doesnt work out then just cut bait next offseason. I'd rather have Buxton but his cost is gonna be crazy
 
Wish baseball would have a FA period of like 2-3 weeks. Once it's closed, you can't sign till after ST. Something like that. They have to drum up the excitement somehow

FWIW, MLBTR predicts him getting 2/38. The SP market is pretty mediocre this year, so it will likely lead to guys being overpaid.

Yeah that definitely needs to be changed. Not having a limit on it at all makes it extremely boring. I'd be fine with December 31st being the cutoff.
