I will say this. Signing Suarez to a 170+ million deal a year after letting Max walk for 218 would be..... head scratching to say the least.
Maybe Suarez' market is a lot cooler than we think. ESPN only projected him for 4/92, which seems crazy to me in this SP market.
I am big on signing Suarez if for no other reason so he can't pitch against us in October. That's worth atleast 5 mill a year to me. He does have a chronic back issue and doesn't make 30 starts bit he does pitch deep into games in the regular season and he is good for 5 innings on the playoffs. He isn't reliant on velocity and induces a lot of weak contact. That should age well. I believe Suarez is a year younger than Fried was and if he gets 6 years thats 2 years less than Fried. They just dont want absurdly long contracts for pitchers.
