2025-2026 offseason thread

Are we sure? Unless that's in his contact, MLB contracts are guaranteed, even against a DFA.
The money is guaranteed as long as he stays with the organization or is claimed. If he elects FA he’d have to forfeit his money because he has less than 5 years of service time. Teams often use this to their advantage in order to build non roster depth.

Rosenthal says the Pirates (!!!), Orioles, Padres, Blue Jays and Braves are all linked and in on Framber.
He's likely gonna have to take a short deal to rebuild his value/reputation and remove the pick, so probably not surprising we are interested in that.

The guys over at Braves Today have mulled around names like Jordan Montgomery and Evan Phillips as guys we could add without having to move anyone off the 40 man, since both pitchers are unlikely to be back before July. Montgomery doesn't interest me much, but Phillips would be a nice stash for late in the season if we have the cash to spare.

At 37 I'm guessing Bassitt doesn't get more than 2 years after Framber got 3. 1 year with an option would be perfect.

What's the fascination with Bassitt here? I guess maybe he's an innings eater? If you like ZIPS, he and elder are projected almost exactly the same
I'd trust Bassitt over Elder any day and I'd guess any GM in baseball would agree. We have a rotation full of injury prone pitchers so having one that's not would be a nice change.
