2026 ST Thread

I am really interested in seeing the changes made by our new pitching coach.

I know I will be mocked for saying this, but some of these guys might be better with a new approach. It might just make some of the criticisms of the past a little bit less obvious and important.

Obviously we won’t know for a while, but it’s an interesting thing to keep an eye on.

You have to be an only child. If everyone doesn't just share your opinion, you throw temper tantrums.

There's literally no one here who isn't concerned about Lopez. A wait-and-see approach is all some of us are doing.
Yes. And what does melting down about something we can’t control accomplish?

Might be wrong but he might be talking about all the posts outside of this site that talk mention shape and ramping as if we shouldn’t be worried.

Even if it was (it’s not) truly who gives a shit? Why go on and on about it on every page.
Probably excessive. I get it. I can see both sides. Like you hear the broadcast blabber about how he’ll is not important right now knowing they are just blowing smoke. But then they get paid to blow smoke so there is that.

Yes. The mental midgets on this board struggle to rub a few brain cells together most of the time. Thanks for breaking it down for them.

No whiffs and really high xwoba on the fastball, but not all bad news on that chart
The interesting thing is his iVB is improved on the fastball, even with less velocity, over 2024. Same goes for Strider (this year compared to last). Velocity is absolutely an issue if it doesn't normalize for both, but Hefner is doing something right. The secondaries for Lopez were especially strong.

Then make a joke, a meme, a bit—be, at the very least, minimally entertaining. We all hated listening to Chip Carey every night, but we made a game of dunking on him selectively and ingeniously.

At this point, if Encheff’s not soberly breaking down pitch characteristics via new statcast data (which he’s good at!), then he’s sadly just boring as shit. And I don’t waste my time on an internet forum talking about grown adults playing a game to be bored by repetitive, performative vitriol.

What’s it matter ?
Exactly. I'm not sure what it matters arguing about whether or not Lopez and SS are ramping it up.

Both pitchers say that's what they are doing. What does it matter if they are lying about it or trying to downplay it?
