2026 ST Thread

I have a buddy who attends Murphy's starts consistently and praises him every chance he gets lol doesn't mean much but seeing the peripherals behind his stuff is encouraging.
I've seen him a lot. Eyeball tells me that the movement is there and when his secondaries are a threat, he's good. But for me, he's a next tier pitcher after CC, DF, JRR.

Baumann is so intriguing to me. Would love to see his strikeouts tick up this season, but everything he does on the mound looks so easy for a guy with his size. Tons of strikes and ground balls, just needs a slight uptick with the Ks.

He looked good. You feeling starter or reliever.

Dude, he's getting 23 iVB with the fastball lol movement is insane. He's got to get that velo working though
The secondary stuff is a problem currently.

I want to believe if he can't get back to the velocity he was at pre TJA, then maybe he can still be another Logan Webb, Sonny Gray, or Shane Bieber and still be really good with low end velocity. Realistically, he's probably closer to Kyle Hendricks or Andrew Heaney.

Yup! I'm sorry if I came off as a dick, but I couldn't believe how good is fastball looked. More movement than he had during the spring. The velocity is still an issue, but he's still coming off TJ and has hit 96 many times this spring. Just needs more seasoning
Plenty of MORs and a few TORs sit 91-92 on their fastballs, but have really good movement. Of course they also have great secondary stuff and great command.

Velocity isn't the only thing that matters, but you have to make up for it in other areas. Fortunately, Murphy seems to have very good command, so that helps a lot.

Our farm stars vs. their farm stars. Our farm stars carried the day. Very encouraging to see. Especially your 2027 ROY SS Gil.
I feel pretty confident in saying that Gil will be a solid major-field SS or 2B. He may not be elite, but he's just a solid player who is very clearly growing into his role perfectly.

Also, it was encouraging to see Tate Southisene last night. Multiple 100+ EVs. He still feels like a long shot to me, but the upside is extremely clear.

It's so fun to see a couple prospects take the next step up... especially ones like Gil and Fuentes who I feel like I've been following since the DSL.

Baumann really turning interesting... can't wait to see how his year goes.
